Who is Kait?
Kait Diaz is a character in the Gears of War franchise. She was introduced in Gears of War 4 as a young scavenger who joins forces with JD Fenix and his friends to fight against the game’s main antagonists, the Swarm.
In Gears 5, Kait is the game’s protagonist and her story is fleshed out more. It is revealed that she is from a clan of Outsiders, humans who have chosen to live outside of COG society. She is also part Locust, as her mother was implanted with a Locust Queen by Skorge during the Pendulum Wars.
Kait’s journey in Gears 5 takes her to some dark places and she emerges from it as a changed person. She eventually learns that she has the potential to become a Locust Queen herself and must come to terms with what that means for her and for humanity’s future.
At the end of Gears 5, Kait decides to leaveJD and his friends to journey into unknown territory with her Outsider clan. She promises to JD that they will see each other again one day.
Why is she important to the esports community?
Kaitlyn Richelle “Kait” Walton is a Canadian former professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player. She is most known for her time with Lazarus Esports, where she was the in-game leader. Kait retired from competitive gaming in December 2019.
Kait was a highly regarded member of theCounter-Strike community, and was known for her leadership and shot calling abilities. She helped lead Lazarus to victory at the ESEA Invite Season 18 Global Playoffs, and was considered one of the best female Counter-Strike players in the world.
Since retiring from competitive gaming, Kait has remained active in the esports community, working as a content creator and host. She also works with several charities, including Gamers Outreach and Stack Up.
