The Watt brothers have made a name for themselves in the NFL, but how many of them are there? As it turns out, there are three brothers in total who have made it to the NFL. Here’s a quick look at each of them.
Watt Brothers in the NFL
The Watt brothers have all had successful NFL careers. J.J. Watt is a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, while Derek Watt has carved out a role as a solid fullback and special teams player. T.J. Watt was the 30th overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft and had a solid rookie season.
J.J. Watt
J.J. Watt is an American football defensive end for the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Texans with the 11th pick in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, and played college football at Wisconsin.
Watt quickly became one of the league’s premier defensive players, winning Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2012 and 2014, becoming the first player in NFL history to be named to the All-Pro Team four times in a row, and becoming only the second player ever to record two 20+ sack seasons in a career. In 2014, he became just the third NFL player since 1982 to record multiple 20+ sack seasons in a career. He has led the league in sacks three times, is a five-time Pro Bowl selection, and a four-time first-team All-Pro. He currently has 77 career sacks, which ranks him 8th among active players.
In 2017, Watt was again named Defensive Player of the Year after leading the league with 15.5 sacks, despite playing in only 13 games due to injury. He was also named to his fifth Pro Bowl that season.
Derek Watt
Derek Watt (born October 28, 1992) is an American football fullback for the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Wisconsin. He was drafted in the sixth round, 198th overall, by the San Diego Chargers in the 2016 NFL Draft
Derek is the middle child of the three Watt brothers. He played football and track & field in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. As a senior, he had 1,140 receiving yards with 13 touchdowns and 100 tackles with 11 sacks. In track & field, he was one of the state’s top performers in the shot put, having a top-throw of 16.11 meters (52 ft 10 in).
T.J. Watt
The eldest of the three Watt brothers, T.J. was born in 1996 in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. He played college football at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, Watt recorded seven sacks and two forced fumbles, en route to being named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. In 2018, he was selected for his first Pro Bowl after recording 13 sacks and six forced fumbles.

T.J. Watt was born on November 11, 1994, in Pewaukee, Wisconsin to parents Connie and John Watt. He is the second oldest of three sons, Derek being the oldest and J.J., the youngest. All three brothers played football for Pewaukee High School. Following high school, T.J. attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he played college football for the Wisconsin Badgers from 2013 to 2016. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft and has played for the team since then.

T.J. Watt
T.J. Watt was born on November 11, 1994,in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. He is the third child of Connie and John Watt, after brothers J.J. and Derek. T.J. played hockey and baseball as a child, following in the footsteps of his brothers, who both played professional baseball. T.J. began playing football in high school, and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
In his rookie season, T.J. started all 16 games for the Steelers, compiling a team-leading seven sacks en route to being named AFC Defensive Rookie of the Month for November 2017. In 2018, T.J.’s sack total increased to 13, which ranked second in the NFL behind only Aaron Donald’s 20 sacks; he was again named AFC Defensive Rookie of the Month for November 2018 after tallying four sacks and an interception returned for a touchdown that month. In 2019, T.J.’s sack total increased to 14.5, which led the Steelers and ranked sixth in the NFL; he was named to his first career Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro for his efforts that season
