Who Is In The NFL Playoffs?

The NFL playoffs are upon us, and we know you’re wondering: who’s in? Here’s a quick rundown of the teams that have qualified for the postseason.

AFC

The Baltimore Ravens are in the AFC playoffs. They are the number one seed and they have a bye in the first round. They will play the winner of the Houston Texans and the Buffalo Bills.

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. They compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. The Ravens organization was established in 1996 and plays its home games at M&T Bank Stadium.

Under head coach John Harbaugh, the Ravens have compiled a 108–72 record since 2008, winning Super Bowl XLVII in 2013. The team’s name is derived from Edgar Allan Poe’s poem “The Raven”.

Buffalo Bills

As the AFC’s fifth seed, the Buffalo Bills will take on the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round. The Bills had a stellar regular season, led by their stingy defense. They will need to put up a good fight against the Texans, who boast one of the best QB-WR combos in the league in DeShaun Watson and DeAndre Hopkins.

Houston Texans

The Houston Texans are a professional football team based in Houston, Texas. The Texans compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) South division. The team plays its home games at NRG Stadium, a stadium it shares with the National League Baseball (MLB) team, the Houston Astros. The Texans have won two AFC South championships since joining the NFL in 2002.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division. The team was founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans by businessman Lamar Hunt and was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). In 1963, the team relocated to Kansas City and assumed their current name. The Chiefs joined the NFL as a result of the merger in 1970. The team is valued at over $2 billion.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston area. The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is located 28 miles (45 km) southwest of downtown Boston.

The Patriots are also headquartered at Gillette Stadium. An original member of the American Football League (AFL), the Patriots joined the NFL in the AFL–NFL merger in 1970. The team changed its name from the original Boston Patriots after relocating to Foxborough in 1971. The Patriots played their home games at Foxboro Stadium from 1971 to 2001, then moved to Gillette Stadium at the start of 2002.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional American football team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Steelers compete in the National Football League (NFL), as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) North division. Founded in 1933, the Steelers are the oldest franchise in the AFC.

In contrast with their status as perennial also-rans in the pre-merger NFL, where they were mostly captured by the Browns, since joining the AFC in 1970, the Steelers have become one of its most dominant teams, winning more Super Bowl titles (6) than any other AFC team. They have won 8 AFC championships, more than any other team in the conference. Since 2008, Pittsburgh has been among the league’s top teams year in and year out under head coach Mike Tomlin with an average win percentage of over .600; they have qualified for the playoffs nine times out of eleven seasons since he took over as head coach.

Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans are a professional American football team based in Nashville, Tennessee. The Titans compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) South division. Previously known as the Houston Oilers, the then-newly founded franchise was originally based in Houston, Texas, from 1960 to 1996. The Oilers began play in 1960 as a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). The team joined the NFL as part of the AFL–NFL merger in 1970.

In 1999, the Titans moved from Houston to Nashville, and played their home games at LP Field (later renamed Nissan Stadium) until moving to their current home stadium, Nissan Stadium, in 2020. The team has appeared in one Super Bowl—as the AFC representatives—in 2000 following the 1999 season, in which they defeated the St. Louis Rams 23–16 to capture their first and only NFL Championship.

NFC

The NFL Playoffs are upon us and it’s time to find out who’s in and who’s out. The NFC is loaded with talent this year and it looks like anyone could come out on top. So, who’s in the playoffs?

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are a professional American football team based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The Cowboys compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) East division. They are one of the eight teams of the NFC Southern Division. The Cowboys joined the NFL as an expansion team in 1960. The team’s national following might best be represented by its NFL record of consecutive sell-outs. The Cowboys’ streak of 190 consecutive sold-out regular and post-season games began in 2002.

Green Bay Packers

As the Packers get set to take on the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC divisional playoffs, Green Bay’s star quarterback Aaron Rodgers is confident that his team can win.

“We’re excited about the opportunity in front of us,” Rodgers said. “It’s going to be a great battle.”

The Packers are coming off a bye week and will be well-rested for their showdown with the Seahawks. Green Bay’s offense is one of the best in the NFL, and they will be a tough matchup for Seattle’s defense.

The Seahawks are also a formidable opponent, however, and they will be looking to defend their home turf. Seattle has one of the best home-field advantages in all of sports, and they will be tough to beat in front of their fans.

The Packers and Seahawks have met twice before in the playoffs, with Green Bay winning both matchups. The most recent meeting was in 2014, when the Packers won 28-22 in overtime.

Both teams are evenly matched, and this year’s NFC divisional playoff game promises to be a great one.

Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are a professional American football team located in the Greater Los Angeles Area. The Rams compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) division. The Rams franchise was founded in 1936 as the Cleveland Rams in the short-lived second American Football League before joining the NFL the next year. In 1946, the franchise moved to Los Angeles. The Rams franchise remained in the metro area until 1994, when they moved to St. Louis, and were known as the St. Louis Rams from 1995 to 2015. The Rams franchise returned to Los Angeles in 2016, rekindling its historic rivalry with the San Francisco 49ers.

The Rams play their home games at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, which they share with the Los Angeles Chargers.

As of 2019, NFC playoff teams are:
-San Francisco 49ers
-Green Bay Packers
-New Orleans Saints
-Seattle Seahawks
-Minnesota Vikings
-Philadelphia Eagles

San Francisco 49ers

The team plays its home games at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, located 38 miles (61 kilometers) southeast of San Francisco in the Silicon Valley. Since 1988, the 49ers have been headquartered in Santa Clara.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are a professional American football franchise based in Seattle, Washington.
