The Cleveland Browns

Once upon a time, the Cleveland Browns were a powerhouse in the NFL. They won 8 divisional titles and 3 NFL championships between 1950 and 1964. The Browns are infamous for drafting poorly. In 2017, they drafted Defensive end Myles Garrett with the first overall pick. He was considered a can’t-miss prospect and was supposed to be the cornerstone of the Browns’ defense for years to come. However, Garrett has not lived up to expectations and has only had 14.5 sacks in 3 seasons.

In 2018, the Browns drafted Quarterback Baker Mayfield with the first overall pick. He was considered a reach by many analysts but ended up having a very successful rookie season, throwing for 27 touchdowns and leading the Browns to their first winning season since 2007.

The Browns also drafted Running back Nick Chubb in the 2nd round of the 2018 draft. He has quickly become one of the best running backs in the NFL and has rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of his first two seasons.

The 2019 draft is where things really went off the rails for the Browns. They drafted Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr with the 11th overall pick, which was seen as a very risky move considering he had missed most of the previous season with an injury. Beckham Jr ended up playing in only 12 games due to injuries and caught only 74 passes for 1052 yards and 4 touchdowns, which are all career lows.

In 2020, The Browns fired head coach Freddie Kitchens after just one season and hired Kevin Stefanski as their new head coach. They also fired general manager John Dorsey and replaced him with Andrew Berry. The Browns have made some good moves this offseason by signing Pro Bowl cornerback Casey Hayward Jr to a three-year deal and trading for star Wide receiver Jarvis Landry, but it remains to be seen if they can finally turn things around and become a competitive team again.
