The National Football League is made up of the best football players in the world. These athletes come from all over the United States, but some states produce more NFL talent than others. Let’s take a look at which state has the most NFL players.
Alabama
There are currently 53 NFL players from the state of Alabama, the most of any state. These 53 players represent 27 different colleges, with the University of Alabama leading the way with 11 players. The next most represented college is Auburn University with 8 players. Other colleges with multiple NFL players from Alabama include the University of South Alabama (3), Tuskegee University (3), and Samford University (2).
Florida
Florida is the state with the most NFL players, with a total of 269 players. This is followed by California (265 players), Texas (254 players), Georgia (233 players), and Ohio (206 players).
Georgia
Georgia has produced the second-most professional football players per capita of any U.S. state according to a map produced by sports website 247Sports. The site estimated that there are currently 1,033 NFL players from Georgia, which equates to one for every 8,349 residents in the state. That’s behind only Florida, which has one NFL player for every 7,013 residents.
Louisiana
According to a recent poll, Louisiana has the most NFL players of any state in the nation. This is not surprising, considering the state’s rich football tradition. Louisiana has produced many great players over the years, including Hall of Famers like Peyton Manning and Drew Brees.
The state’s top-ranked high school teams routinely churn out talented players who go on to have successful careers in college and the NFL. Louisiana is also home to several prominent NFL teams, including the New Orleans Saints and the Baton Rouge Bengals.
With so many talented players and successful teams, it’s no wonder that Louisiana is considered the best state for football fans.
Mississippi
Mississippi is home to a large number of NFL players, with a total of 33 players coming from the state. This is more than any other state in the country, and it is clear that Mississippi is a hotbed for NFL talent. Some of the most famous players to come from Mississippi include Jerry Rice, Eli Manning, and Brett Favre.

California, Texas, and Florida are the top 3 states with the most NFL players. California alone has over 200 NFL players, while Texas and Florida have over 150 NFL players each. These states produce the most talent because they have the largest pool of high school football players to choose from.
Alabama
Alabama has the most NFL players of any state, with a total of 97. Mississippi is second with 80 players, followed by Florida (74), Georgia (60), and Louisiana (58).
Florida
As of September 2020, there were a total of 1,696 NFL players spread out over the league’s 32 teams. Of those 1,696 players, Florida led the way with a total of 216 players on NFL rosters. That is good for 12.8% of all NFL players coming from the state of Florida.

Georgia
Georgia has been home to many great NFL players over the years, including Julio Jones, Zach Thomas, and A.J. Green. The state has produced more than its share of Pro Bowlers and All-Pros, and it currently ranks third in the nation in terms of active NFL players.
Louisiana
Louisiana has the most NFL players per capita, with 8.64 players per 100,000 residents. Louisiana also has the second highest number of NFL players overall, with 403 total players.
Mississippi
Mississippi has the most NFL players per capita of any state in the country, according to a new study.
The study, conducted by 24/7 Wall St., looked at the number of NFL players from each state and divided it by the state’s population. Mississippi had the highest ratio of NFL players to population, with nearly one NFL player for every 11,000 residents.
Other states with a high concentration of NFL players include Louisiana, Alabama, Florida and Georgia. All of these states have large populations of African Americans, which may partly explain the high number of NFL players from these states. African Americans make up about 70% of NFL players.
The state with the lowest ratio of NFL players to population is Wyoming, with only one player for every 140,000 residents.
