The 2020 NFL Draft was held from April 23-25. Joe Burrow, a quarterback from LSU, was drafted first overall by the Cincinnati Bengals. This was the first time in NFL history that a player from LSU was taken first overall.

Joe Burrow played college football for the LSU Tigers. He began his career as a backup quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes. After two years, he transferred to LSU. In his first year as starter, he led the Tigers to an undefeated regular season and a berth in the national championship game, which they won against Clemson. Young’s stellar play helped lead Ohio State to a national championship in his sophomore year, and he was awarded the prestigious Nagurski Trophy as the nation’s top defensive player in his junior year.
Due to his dominant collegiate career, Young was widely expected to be the number one overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. However, he ultimately fell to second overall, behind fellow Buckeye quarterback Justin Fields.
Chase Young’s NFL Career
Chase Young was drafted #1 overall by the Washington Redskins in the 2020 NFL Draft. He played college football at Ohio State, where he was a two-time consensus All-American and won the Heisman Trophy as the nation’s best player.
Young began his NFL career with high expectations, as he was considered one of the best defensive prospects in recent years. He did not disappoint, recording 7 sacks and 2 forced fumbles in his rookie season. He was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and made the Pro Bowl.
Young has continued to be one of the league’s best pass rushers, recording 19.5 sacks in his second season. He was again named to the Pro Bowl and was unanimously selected to the All-Pro first team.
Tua Tagovailoa
The 2020 NFL Draft is finally complete and we now know who will be taking the first snap for each team this upcoming season. Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence was the first pick overall, going to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The rest of the top 10 included some surprises, including the Miami Dolphins drafting Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with the fifth pick.
Tua Tagovailoa’s College Career
In his first year as a starter in 2018, Tagovailoa helped lead the Crimson Tide to a perfect 13-0 record during the regular season. He then led the team to a come-from-behind victory over Georgia in the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship Game. Tagovailoa was named the game’s Most Valuable Player after completing 21 of 34 passes for 318 yards and four touchdowns, including the game-winning 41-yard touchdown pass to DeVonta Smith in overtime.
Tagovailoa suffered a season-ending hip injury during Alabama’s game against Mississippi State on November 16, 2019. He underwent successful surgery on November 18.

Tua Tagovailoa was drafted by the Miami Dolphins as the No. 5 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Alabama, and he is of Samoan descent.
Tagovailoa was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. He attended Saint Louis School, a private Catholic all-boys school in Honolulu. As a high schooler, he was recruited by multiple colleges and chose to play for Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide over other options.
In 2018, Tagovailoa replaced starting quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second half of the College Football Playoff National Championship game against the Georgia Bulldogs, and he helped lead Alabama to a come-from-behind victory. The following year, he led Alabama to another national championship appearance. In his junior season of 2019 project him as a high first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but he decided to return to Alabama for his senior season.
During his senior season of 2020, Tagovailoa suffered a season-ending hip injury against Mississippi State. This caused him to drop in draft projections, but he was still drafted in the first round by the Miami Dolphins.
