NFL Preseason Games

The National Football League (NFL) preseason is the period each year during which NFL teams play several not-for-the-record exhibition games before the regular season starts. Beginning with the expiration of the 2010 Collective Bargaining Agreement, the length of the preseason was reduced from four games per team to two games per team.

The preseason games are not open to the public, but are instead held in closed venues such as training camps and stadiums that typically seat 60,000 or more people. These exhibitions are used by NFL coaches to evaluate their players and by game officials to gain experience for the regular season.

The NFL preseason generally opens in early August and closes in late August or early September. The specific dates of each year’s preseason games are determined by the NFL schedule makers, who attempt to minimize conflicts with major holidays and other events that could potentially decrease attendance.

NFL Regular Season Games

The regular season of the National Football League (NFL) begins in September and ends in December. Each team plays 16 games during the regular season. There are usually 1 or 2 games on each Sunday.
During the regular season, each team has one bye week, during which they do not play.

NFL Playoff Games

The National Football League (NFL) playoffs are a single-elimination tournament held after the regular season to determine the NFL champion. Seven teams from each of the league’s two conferences qualify for the playoffs. A tie-breaking procedure exists if required. The tournament culminates in the Super Bowl, the league’s championship game.

NFL Championship Games

The NFL Conference Championships are the penultimate round of the NFL playoffs. The four best teams from each conference – the two division winners and two wild card teams – play each other to determine who will compete in the Super Bowl. This year, the Conference Championship games will be played on Sunday, January 24th.
