What Is The Best Nfl Football Team?
Contents
The best NFL football team is the one that wins the most games. However, there are other factors to consider when trying to determine the best team. These include the team’s overall record, their performance against tough opponents, and their overall strength of schedule.
The Best NFL Football Teams
Wondering which NFL team is the best? Here’s a detailed list of the best NFL football teams, based on records, statistics, and Super Bowl wins.
The New England Patriots
The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston region. The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is 22 miles (35 km) southwest of downtown Boston.
The Patriots are also headquartered at Gillette Stadium. The franchise began play in the AFL in 1960 as the Boston Patriots, changing its name to the New England Patriots after relocating to Foxborough in 1971. The team appeared in two Super Bowls in the 1980s as AFC East champions, and defeated the Los Angeles Rams to win Super Bowl XXXVI at the end of the 2001 season, their first Super Bowl appearance since 1986. Since 2002, the Patriots have appeared in seven more Super Bowls, winning three of them: Super Bowl XXXVIII against the Carolina Panthers after defeating them 32–29 during the 2003 season, Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks 28–24 during their 2014 season,[4] and most recently defeating Los Angeles Rams 13–3 for their sixth Lombardi trophy during Super Bowl LIII in 2019.
The Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional American football team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Steelers compete in the National Football League (NFL), as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) North division. Founded in 1933, the Steelers are the oldest franchise in the AFC.
In contrast with their status as perennial also-rans in the pre-merger NFL, where they were the oldest team never to win a league championship, the Steelers of the post-merger (1970) era are one of the most successful NFL franchises. Since the formation of the AFC North in 2002, the Steelers have won 13 division championships and made 16 appearances in conference championship games. As of 2020, they have an NFL-best .645 winning percentage since 1970, and have captured nine AFC Championships—tied with New England for second-most behind Oakland (11). They have appeared in six Super Bowls—winning two—and played in 15 playoff seasons overall since 1970.
The Steelers began play as part of the longtime rivalry between AFL teams and NFL teams. While their involvement as an AFL expansion team was short-lived, they maintained a strong presence within that league throughout its existence – with former Steeler Mike Webster considered one of the greatest players in AFL history.
The Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers are a professional American football team based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Packers compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) North division. It is the third-oldest franchise in the NFL, dating back to 1919, and is the only non-profit, community-owned major league professional sports team based in the United States. Home games have been played at Lambeau Field since 1957.
The Packers are the last of the “small town teams” which were common in the NFL during the league’s early days of 1925 and 1926. Founded in 1919 by Earl “Curly” Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun, the franchise traces its lineage to other semi-professional teams in Green Bay dating back to 1896. Between 1919 and 1920, the Packers competed against other semi-pro clubs from around Wisconsin and Michigan, before joining the American Professional Football Association (APFA), now known as the NFL, in 1921. Although Green Bay is by far the smallest major league professional sports market in North America, Forbes ranked the Packers as being worth US$1.375 billion in August 2015, making them also publically owned among their 32 partners of US$1 billion or more each group share value within their organizations while they generate an estimated annual revenue of $509 million US dollars per season.
The Worst NFL Football Teams
The Miami Dolphins have had a rough season so far and they are currently on a five game losing streak. The San Francisco 49ers are also struggling this season with a record of two wins and seven losses. These teams are at the bottom of the standings and are considered to be the worst teams in the NFL right now.
The Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns are a professional American football team in Cleveland, Ohio. The Browns compete in the National Football League as a member club of the American Football Conference North division. The Browns play their home games at FirstEnergy Stadium, which opened in 1999, with administrative offices and training facilities in Berea, Ohio. The Browns’ official colors are brown, orange, and white. They are unique among the 32 member franchises of the NFL in that they do not have a helmet logo.
The franchise was founded in 1945 by businessman Arthur B. McBride and coach Paul Brown as a charter member of the All-America Football Conference. The Browns dominated the AAFC, compiling a 47–4–3 record in the league’s four seasons and winning its championship in each of them. When the AAFC dissolved after the 1949 season, the Browns joined the NFL along with three other AAFC teams; they were assigned to the Western Conference. Cleveland won a championship in their inaugural NFL season (1950).
The Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions have been one of the worst NFL football teams for a very long time. They have only made the playoffs 10 times in their history and have only won 1 playoff game. Their lone playoff win came in 1991, when they beat the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round. Since then, they have lost 8 straight playoff games. The Lions have also never won a Super Bowl.
The New York Jets
The New York Jets are a professional American football team located in the New York metropolitan area. The Jets compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team is headquartered in Florham Park, New Jersey. In a unique arrangement for the league, the Jets share MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey with the New York Giants. The franchise is legally and corporately registered as New York Jets, LLC.
