The National Football League (NFL) playoffs are a single-elimination tournament held after the regular season to determine the NFL champion. Six teams from each of the league’s two conferences qualify for the playoffs. Seeds 1–6 (within each conference) receive a bye to the divisional round. In the Wild Card round, seeds 7 and 8 play each other, as do seeds 5 and 6, with the winners advancing to play the conference’s 1 and 2 seeds respectively in the Divisional Round. The 4 remaining teams are seeded according to their regular-season records. In Round 1 of both conferences, seeds 3 and 4 hosting seeds 6 and 5 respectively while also playing at their home stadium. The lowest remaining seed from each match-up then plays one of the two highest remaining seeds in Round 2 (the divisional round), in order to ensure that all four divisional champions are still in contention. In most cases, this means that seed 3 will play seed 2 or seed 4 will play seed 1 next week. However, if both number 3 Seeds win this weekend then Seed 3 will play Seed 4 next week since they cannot play another team in their own conference until the Championship Game.
