Introduction
In the National Football League (NFL), there are 32 teams that are divided equally between the National Football Conference (NFC) and the American Football Conference (AFC).
Each conference is then split into four divisions, North, East, South, and West.
In total, there are 16 teams in each conference and 8 teams in each division.
The NFL season is made up of 17 regular weeks of play, where each team plays 16 games and has one bye week.
At the end of the regular season, the six teams with the best records from each conference advance to the playoffs.
In total, 12 teams make it to the playoffs each year.
The playoffs consist of four rounds: Wild Card weekend, Divisional Playoffs, Conference Championships, and Super Bowl Sunday.
On Wild Card weekend, the four Wild Card teams from each conference play each other in two game. The winners of those two games advance to play the number one seed from their respective conference in the Divisional Playoffs.
The Divisional Playoffs are made up of four games where the winners of those four games advance to play in their conference’s championship game.
The winners of each conference’s championship game make it to Super Bowl Sunday where they will play against each other to decide who is crowned that year’s NFL champion.
