On November 4, 2014, Peterson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of reckless assault for injuring his 4-year-old son with a wooden switch. The NFL initially suspended Peterson for six games, but after Peterson appealed the decision, an arbitrator ruled that he should be reinstated and eligible to play immediately.
In February 2015, the NFL reinstated Peterson from suspension. He is currently under contract with the Minnesota Vikings, but his future with the team is uncertain.
