Introduction
The National Football League (NFL) is America’s top professional football league. Each year, the NFL season starts in late summer and ends in early winter. The regular season is 16 games long, and is divided into four weeks. The NFL playoff season then begins, culminating in the Super Bowl championship game.
So, what week of the NFL season is it? As of this writing, it is currently Week 3 of the 2019 NFL season.
The First Four Weeks
The NFL regular season is seventeen weeks long, with each team playing sixteen games. The season starts the week after Labor Day (the first Monday in September) and ends seventeen weeks later on New Year’s Eve or the first Sunday in January.
During the first four weeks of the season, each team plays one game against an opponent in their own division. These games are called “divisional” games. For example, if a team is in the AFC West division, they will play every team in that division once during the first four weeks of the season. In addition to these four divisional games, each team also plays two other opponents from divisions within their own conference that finished in the same place as them in their own division the previous year. For example, if a team finished first in their division, they would play two teams that also finished first in their divisions from within their conference. Finally, during these first four weeks, each team plays one game against a team from a different conference who finished in the same place as them in their own conference the previous year.
In total, every team plays six games during the first four weeks of the season: four divisional games and two games against opponents from within their conference.
The Middle of the Season
The National Football League (NFL) is a professional American football league consisting of 32 teams, divided equally between the National Football Conference (NFC) and the American Football Conference (AFC). The NFL is one of the four major North American professional sports leagues, the highest professional level of American football in the world. The NFL’s 17-week regular season runs from late September to early January, with each team playing 16 games and having one bye week. Following the conclusion of the regular season, six teams from each conference (four division winners and two wild card teams) advance to the playoffs, a single-elimination tournament culminating in the Super Bowl, which is usually held on the first Sunday in February and is played between the champions of the NFC and AFC
The NFL was formed in 1920 as the American Professional Football Association (APFA) before renaming itself the National Football League for the 1922 season. The NFL agreed to merge with American Football League (AFL) in 1966, and the first Super Bowl was held at the end of that season; the merger was completed in 1970. Today, tropeNFL has relationshipes with many television networks including CBS, NBC, ESPN, Amazon Prime Video, TwitchTV and YouTube
The Final Four Weeks
The final four weeks of the NFL season are upon us, and with them come some crucial matchups that will determine who makes the playoffs and who goes home early. Here’s a look at what to watch for in the coming weeks:
Week 14:
-The New England Patriots take on the Miami Dolphins in what could be a preview of the AFC Championship game. The Patriots are looking to clinch the AFC East title and secure a first-round bye, while the Dolphins are fighting for their playoff lives.
-The Pittsburgh Steelers travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens in a critical AFC North matchup. The Steelers can clinch the division title with a win, while the Ravens need a win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
-In the NFC East, the Philadelphia Eagles host the Dallas Cowboys in a game that could decide the division title. The Eagles currently hold a one-game lead over the Cowboys, but Dallas has won four of their last five games.
Week 15:
-The Indianapolis Colts take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in a pivotal AFC South matchup. The Colts can clinch the division title with a win, while the Jaguars need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
-In another critical NFC East matchup, the Washington Redskins host the New York Giants. Both teams are still in contention for a division title, so this game could have major implications for both teams’ playoff hopes.
Week 16:
-The Minnesota Vikings travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers in what could be an NFC Championship game preview. The Vikings can clinch a first-round bye with a win, while the Packers need a win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
-In another crucial NFC East matchup, the Dallas Cowboys host the Philadelphia Eagles in what could be a preview of the divisional round of the playoffs. The Cowboys can clinch the division title with a win, while the Eagles need a win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
The Playoffs
The playoffs are here and there are only a few weeks left in the NFL season! This is the exciting time of year when the best teams in the league face off in a single-elimination tournament to determine the champion. The first round of the playoffs, called the Wild Card Round, features four games. The winners of those games advance to the Divisional Round, where they will play one of the top two seeds in their conference. The divisional winners then move on to the Conference Championships, with the winners of those games meeting in the ultimate showdown: the Super Bowl.
So what week of the NFL season are we in? We are currently in Week 14, which is just before the Wild Card Round. There are still four weeks left in the regular season, and then things will really start heating up! Be sure to follow your favorite team and catch all of the action!
The Super Bowl
The Super Bowl is the biggest and most important game of the year in the National Football League (NFL). It is the annual championship game that determines the winner of the NFL season. The game is played between the winning teams from the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC), with the winner taking home the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
