What is the gameplay like in NFL 2K22?
From what we know so far, gameplay in NFL 2K22 will feel a lot like recent Madden games. There will be some minor changes and improvements, but the basic feel of the game will be the same. You’ll still have your offensive and defensive playbooks to choose from, and you’ll still controlling your players on the field. The big changes seem to be reserved for the franchise mode, which we’ll talk about more in a bit.
As far as controls go, it looks like you’ll still be able to use the right stick to make jukes and other moves on offense, and the left stick to control your defensive player. The right bumper will still bring up a menu of play options on offense, and the left bumper will do the same on defense. There doesn’t seem to be any major changes to the controls, which is good news for anyone who was worried about having to learn a whole new set of controls.
One of the things that EA has been touting for Madden 21 is the addition of “yard markers” on the field. These yard markers will show you exactly how far you need to go for a first down, which should help make decision-making on offense a bit easier. It’s not clear if this feature will be in NFL 2K22 as well, but it seems likely that it will at least be an option.
Another change that EA has made to Madden 21 is the addition of “coach mode.” In coach mode, you’ll be able to take control of any one player on either side of the ball and command them to do specific things. For example, you could take control of your middle linebacker and tell him to drop back into coverage or blitz the quarterback. It’s not clear yet if this feature will be in NFL 2K22 as well, but again, it seems likely that it will at least be an option.
