Who Walked Off the Field Today in the NFL?

The NFL is back in full swing and today we saw some big games with plenty of action. Here’s a look at who walked off the field today in the NFL.
Green Bay Packers
Packers coach Matt LaFleur made the decision to pull his starters in the third quarter with his team up big, giving the San Francisco 49ers a chance to come back and win the game. It was a risky move, but it paid off as the Packers held on to win, 30-20.
Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers is an American football quarterback for the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL). Rodgers played college football for the California Golden Bears, where he was a two-time All-American. He was selected in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Packers. After backing up Brett Favre for three seasons, Rodgers became the Packers’ starting quarterback in 2008 and led them to a victory in Super Bowl XLV after the 2010 season. He was named Associated Press (AP) Athlete of the Year in 2011 and Super Bowl MVP that same year. He has also been named to eight Pro Bowls.
Davante Adams
Davante Adams (ankle) is questionable to return against the Minnesota Vikings.
The Green Bay Packers have ruled out wide receiver Davante Adams for the rest of Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings due to an ankle injury.
Adams left the game in the second quarter after taking a hit to the head from Vikings safety Harrison Smith while going up for a catch. He was taken to the locker room and was later ruled out.
New England Patriots
Twelve New England Patriots players took a knee during the national anthem today, the most of any team in the NFL. This display of unity comes after days of President Donald Trump criticizing NFL players who take a knee during the anthem. The Patriots also linked arms during the anthem.
Tom Brady
Tom Brady is an American football quarterback for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He is one of only two players to have won five Super Bowls (the other being defensive end Charles Haley), and he is the only player to have won them all playing for one team. Brady has also been selected for eleven Pro Bowls, more than any other quarterback in NFL history.
Rob Gronkowski
Rob Gronkowski, the New England Patriots star tight end, announced his retirement from the NFL on Sunday morning, ending a nine-year career in which he became one of the most accomplished and beloved players in league history.
Gronkowski, who was drafted by the Patriots in the second round of the 2010 NFL draft, finishes his career with 521 catches for 7,861 yards and 79 touchdowns. He is also a three-time Super Bowl champion, winning titles in 2013, 2014 and 2016.
Gronkowski’s announcement came as a surprise to many, as he had just come off one of his best seasons in 2018, when he caught 69 passes for 1,084 yards and 10 touchdowns. But after numerous injuries throughout his career — including a torn ACL and MCL in 2013 that caused him to miss the entirety of that season — Gronkowski said he was ready to move on to the next phase of his life.
“It all started at home in Buffalo,” Gronkowski wrote in a lengthy statement posted to Twitter. “I was always a skinny kid. I was never really athletic growing up; I just loved contact sports. My dad would put me out there on the football field when I was seven years old with all my big brothers and all their friends … And I remember getting run over a few times those first couple years … man it hurt.”
“But you know what? I would get back up as fast as I could because all I wanted to do was be like them … be like my brothers,” Gronkowski continued. “I wanted to tackle whoever ran the ball and score touchdowns … That’s when I fell in love with the game of football.”
New Orleans Saints
New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis was the only player who walked off the field today during the NFL’s moment of silence for racial inequality, according to multiple reports. Davis, who is black, told reporters he did not feel comfortable standing for the moment of silence because he felt like “it was hypocritical.”
Drew Brees
Drew Brees is one of the most successful quarterbacks in the NFL today. Hailing from Austin, Texas, Brees was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He spent five seasons with the Chargers before signing with the New Orleans Saints in 2006. Since then, he has led the Saints to six NFC South division championships and a Super Bowl victory in 2010. He has also been selected to eleven Pro Bowls and was named the AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year twice.
Michael Thomas
The New Orleans Saints beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 38-3 on Sunday to clinch the NFC South title. Michael Thomas had a big game for the Saints, catching eight passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns. It was the second straight game with 100+ receiving yards for Thomas, who now has 1,277 receiving yards on the season.
Los Angeles Rams
cornerback Troy Hill and defensive lineman Michael Brockers both walked off the field during the first half of today’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. It is unclear why they left the game.
Jared Goff
Jared Goff is an American football quarterback who is currently a free agent. He played college football at the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a two-time All-Pac-12 quarterback. He was drafted by the Rams first overall in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Todd Gurley
Todd Gurley, RB, Los Angeles Rams
Gurley rushed 16 times for 101 yards and two touchdowns in the Rams’ 42-7 win over the Cardinals on Sunday.
Gurley also added three catches for 48 yards and a score on four targets, racking up 149 yards from scrimmage in another monster performance. The second-year back has now scored at least one touchdown in all eight games this season, totaling 14 rushing touchdowns and six receiving scores. He’s on pace for 2,144 yards from scrimmage and 32 total touchdowns. Gurley has been an absolute stud and is a leading MVP candidate.
