Central

The Central Division is one of the six divisions in Major League Baseball (MLB). This division was created in 1994, when MLB realigned itself into three divisions in each league. It is currently composed of five teams: the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and St. Louis Cardinals.

West

The American League West is a division of Major League Baseball’s American League (AL). The division has five teams as of the 2013 season, but had four teams from 1994 to 2012, and had as many as seven teams before the 1994 realignment. Although its teams currently only reside along the west coast and in Texas, historically the division has had teams as far east as Chicago. From 1998 to 2012, the AL West was the second-weakest division in baseball in terms of winning percentage; only the AL Central had a lower winning percentage in that span. In 2014, going into Major League Baseball’s All-Star break, all five teams had a .500 or better record, making it the first time that’s happened since 2007.
