The 2017 NBA Finals are over, and the Golden State Warriors are the champions! Here’s a look at how they won the title.

Who Won The Nba Finals?

The teams

The Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors are the two teams who made it to the 2019 NBA Finals. This is the first time in NBA history that a Canadian team has made it to the Finals.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers are an American professional basketball team based in Los Angeles. The Lakers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as a member of the league’s Western Conference Pacific Division. The Lakers play their home games at Staples Center, an arena shared with the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers and the National Hockey League’s Los Angeles Kings.

The Lakers are one of the most successful teams in the history of the NBA, having won 16 NBA championships, their last being in 2010. As of 2019, the Lakers hold the record for having made the most appearances in the NBA Finals with 31, and are second only to the Boston Celtics in terms of having more wins (17).

Miami Heat

The Miami Heat are an American professional basketball team based in Miami. The Heat compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Southeast Division. The Heat play their home games at American Airlines Arena, and have won three NBA championships.

The players

The Toronto Raptors won the NBA Finals. They were led by Kawhi Leonard, who was named the Finals MVP. Other players who contributed to the Raptors’ victory include Kyle Lowry, Pascal Siakam, and Fred VanVleet.

LeBron James

LeBron James is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest basketball players in NBA history.

James was born on December 30, 1984, in Akron, Ohio. He began playing organized basketball in fifth grade. He played Amateur Athletic Union basketball for Ohio’s Northeastern Buckeyes during his high school years.

James led St. Vincent–St. Mary High School to three state championships and was named Ohio’s Mr. Basketball as a junior. He was heavily promoted in the national media as a future NBA superstar while still in high school, and was earmarked for greatness from an early age.

The All-Star forward recently won his fourth NBA title with the Lakers, after delivering one of the most dominant individual post-season runs in league history. Not only did James average 27 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists per game during the 2020 playoffs, but he also became the first player ever to record a triple double in an NBA Finals Game 7 victory — leading his team to a come-from-behind win over the vaunted Miami Heat squad that he helped build into a dynasty just a few years ago.

With this most recent triumph, James has now cemented his legacy as one of the greatest players of all time — boasting four championships, four MVP awards and countless other accolades over the course of his 17-year career.

Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is a six-time NBA All-Star and has been named to three All-NBA First Teams and three NBA All-Defensive Teams. Davis was drafted first overall in the 2012 NBA draft by the New Orleans Pelicans, where he played for seven seasons before being traded to the Lakers in 2019. He plays mostly at the power forward position but also as a center.

Jimmy Butler

Jimmy Butler (born September 14, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). After playing one year of college basketball for Tyler Junior College, he transferred to Marquette University. He was drafted with the 30th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls.

During his first four seasons with the Bulls, Butler quickly established himself as a rotation player and a defender, but he did not become a full-fledged star until he was named the NBA Most Improved Player in 2015. In 2017, he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he continued to improve his All-Star-caliber play. The following year, he was moved to the Philadelphia 76ers in a multi-player trade.

A five-time NBA All-Star and two-time All-NBA Team member, Butler has earned NBA All-Defensive honors four times. He has also represented the United States national team twice, winning gold medals in 2014 and 2016.

The coaches

Frank Vogel

Frank Vogel is an American professional basketball coach who is the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He has also served as the head coach of the Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic.

Erik Spoelstra

Erik Spoelstra is an American professional basketball coach for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is the current head coach, having been promoted to that position on April 28, 2008. Prior to his head coaching career, Spoelstra spent 19 years with the team, starting as a video coordinator and later becoming an assistant coach.

Spoelstra has led the Heat to six NBA Finals appearances, including appearances in back-to-back NBA finals in 2012 and 2013, winning championships in both of those years. He is one of only eleven coaches in NBA history to lead their team to consecutive Finals appearances. In 2020, he tied Pat Riley for the most playoff wins (155) in franchise history.

The series

The Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors are set to face off in the 2019 NBA Finals. The Warriors are looking to repeat as champions, while the Raptors are looking to win their first championship in franchise history. Who will come out on top?

Game 1

The Los Angeles Lakers took a commanding 1-0 series lead against the Miami Heat in the 2020 NBA Finals with a 116-98 victory in Game 1 on Wednesday night.

LeBron James led the Lakers with 25 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists, while Anthony Davis added 34 points and nine rebounds. Jimmy Butler had 23 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists for the Heat.

This was the first time that James and Davis have played together in the NBA Finals, and they became the first Lakers teammates to each score at least 25 points in a Finals game since Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant did so in Game 3 of the 2002 Finals against the New Jersey Nets.

Game 2

In game 2, the Lakers defeated the Miami Heat 124-114 to take a commanding 2-0 series lead in the 2020 NBA Finals. Once again, it was Anthony Davis who led the way for Los Angeles, as he finished with 34 points and 10 rebounds. LeBron James also had a big game, putting up 25 points, 13 assists and 9 rebounds.

Game 3

The third game of the NBA Finals was a close one, with the Golden State Warriors narrowly defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 108-101. The Cavs started strong, leading by 11 points at halftime, but the Warriors came back in the second half to take the lead and eventually the win. Kevin Durant was named MVP for his performance, scoring 31 points and grabbing eight rebounds.

Game 4

The Warriors led by as many as 14 points in the first half, but the Cavaliers countered with a 24-10 run over the final 8:22 of the second quarter to head into halftime with a slim 54-52 lead. Stephen Curry (19 PTS, 4 3PM) and Klay Thompson (14 PTS, 3 3PM) were both in double figures for Golden State, while LeBron James (20 PTS, 5 REB, 4 AST, 2 STL) and Kyrie Irving (18 PTS) paced Cleveland. The story of the game through three quarters was turnovers, with each team turning it over 10 times.

The aftermath

It was the Toronto Raptors that took home the win, but it was a close game. The Golden State Warriors put up a fight, but in the end, the Raptors were just too good. This was a huge win for the franchise and for the city of Toronto.

The reaction

The reaction to the Finals was mixed. Some people were very happy with the result, while others felt that it was unfair. Overall, though, most people seems to be happy with how the Finals went.

Kevin Love was named MVP in 2016 after averaging 16.0 points and 9.7 rebounds during the series, while Kyrie Irving was the recipient in 2017 after he averaged 29.4 points, 5.0 assists and 3.7 rebounds over five games.
