The National Basketball Association (NBA) is the preeminent men’s professional basketball league in North America, and is widely considered to be the premier men’s professional basketball league in the world. It has 30 teams (29 in the United States and 1 in Canada), and is an active member of USA Basketball (USAB).
The NBA was founded in New York City on June 6, 1946, as the Basketball Association of America (BAA). The league adopted the name National Basketball Association on August 3, 1949, after merging with the rival National Basketball League (NBL). The league’s several international as well as individual team offices are directed out of its head offices located in the Olympic Tower at 645 Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. NBA Entertainment and NBA TV studios are directed out of offices located in Secaucus, New Jersey.
Eastern Conference
The National Basketball Association (NBA) is the premier professional basketball league in the United States and Canada. Each season, the NBA schedule typically features more than 1,000 games.
The Eastern Conference of the NBA is made up of 15 teams, organized into three divisions. The Eastern Conference teams are:
-Atlanta Hawks
-Boston Celtics
-Brooklyn Nets
-Charlotte Hornets
-Chicago Bulls
-Cleveland Cavaliers

Western Conference
The Western Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA) is one of two conferences that makes up the NBA, the other being the Eastern Conference. Like the Eastern Conference, the Western Conference is made up of 15 teams, organized into three divisions.
The Western Conference was created in 1970 when the NBA expanded from 14 to 16 teams with the addition of the Portland Trail Blazers and the Buffalo Braves (now the Los Angeles Clippers). The conference has since been home to some of the most storied franchises in NBA history, such as the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors.
Today, the Western Conference is widely considered to be the stronger of the two conferences, with many experts predicting that a team from the West will win the NBA Finals in 2020.
TV Schedule
The National Basketball Association (NBA) is a men’s professional basketball league in North America, composed of 30 teams (29 in the United States and 1 in Canada). It is widely considered to be the premier men’s professional basketball league in the world.
The regular season starts in October and ends in April. The playoffs follow a tournament format and are contested between the top eight teams in each conference, regardless of divisional alignment. The NBA was founded in New York City on June 6, 1946, as the Basketball Association of America (BAA). It changed its name to the National Basketball Association on August 3, 1949, after absorbing most of the competing teams from the National Basketball League (NBL). The NBA has had several periods of successful growth.
