Who Is The Heaviest Player In The NBA?
We all know that the NBA is full of some of the biggest and strongest athletes in the world. But who is the heaviest player currently in the league?
Introduction
According to recent data, Robert Covington of the Houston Rockets is the heaviest player in the NBA. At a weight of 280 pounds, he is significantly heavier than the average NBA player, who weighs about 220 pounds. Covington’s weight may be due to his height; at 6’7″, he is one of the taller players in the league.
Covington is not the only player who bucks the trend when it comes to weight and height. Some of the shortest players in the NBA are also some of the heaviest. Tyrone Wallace, for example, is just 6’2″ but weighs a whopping 220 pounds. Similarly, Marcus Morris is 6’4″ but weighs 235 pounds.
So, while Covington may be the heaviest player in the NBA, there are a number of players who are much heavier than average for their height.
Shaquille O’Neal
At 7’1” and 325 pounds, Shaquille O’Neal was one of the heaviest players in the NBA for much of his career. He began his professional basketball career with the Orlando Magic in 1992 and quickly became one of the league’s most dominant players. In 1996, he was named the NBA Rookie of the Year and helped lead the Magic to the NBA Finals. O’Neal went on to play for the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics before retiring in 2011. During his 19-year career, he won four NBA championships and was named MVP of the league three times.

Standing 7 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 290 pounds, Marjanovic is a massive human being. He’s so big, in fact, that he once held the world record for largest hands. (His hands measure 13.7 inches from thumb to pinky!)
