Who’s Left in the NBA Finals?
Contents
The NBA Finals are upon us and only four teams remain. Who will take home the championship?
The Warriors
The Warriors have been to the NBA Finals five times in the last six years. They are the only team that has been to the Finals in every year since 2015. They have won three championships in that time. The Warriors are the only team left in the NBA Finals.
Their History
The Warriors are a professional basketball team based in Oakland, California. They are members of the National Basketball Association (NBA), as well as the Western Conference Pacific Division. The Warriors originally played in Philadelphia, but relocated to San Francisco in 1962 and then to Oakland in 1971.
The Warriors have had moderate success since their founding, making the playoffs 14 times in their first 25 seasons. However, they did not make it past the first round of the playoffs until 1976, when they finally won a conference championship. The team’s fortunes changed dramatically in 2015, when they acquired superstar small forward Kevin Durant through free agency. With Durant on the team, the Warriors won two more championships in 2017 and 2018.
The Warriors’ success has made them one of the most popular teams in the NBA, and their fans are known for being some of the loudest and most supportive in the league.
Their Record
The Warriors are currently 73-9, which is the best record in NBA history. They have set the bar high for themselves, and it will be interesting to see if they can maintain this level of play throughout the playoffs.
Their main competition in the finals will be the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are led by LeBron James. The Cavs are currently 57-25, which is good for second place in the Eastern Conference.
The Warriors are heavy favorites to win the championship, but anything can happen in the playoffs. We will have to wait and see if they can make history again.
Their Star Players
The Warriors are a basketball team that is part of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team is based in Oakland, California, and it was founded in 1946. The Warriors are one of the most successful teams in the NBA, winning several championships over the years. In recent years, the team has been led by its star players, such as Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.
The Cavaliers
The Cavaliers are currently in the lead for the NBA Finals. They have shown great teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the playoffs and have come out on top. The Warriors are the only team left that can potentially take the title away from them.
Their History
The Cavaliers began play in the NBA in 1970 as an expansion team. The team struggled in its early years, posting a record of just 15-67 in their first season. That year, they also set the record for the worst shooting percentage in NBA history. Things slowly began to turn around for the Cavaliers, and by the 1980s they were a solid playoff team. However, they never managed to make it to the NBA Finals. In 1987, they came close, losing to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.
The 1990s were a tough decade for the Cavaliers. In 1997, superstar player Cleveland native LeBron James was drafted by the team. James led the Cavaliers to their first playoff appearance in five years in his rookie season. However, despite James’ heroics, the Cavaliers were unable to make it past the first round of the playoffs during his time with the team. In 2010, James left the Cavaliers to join the Miami Heat. The move was highly criticized by Cavs fans, who saw James as a traitor.
The Cavaliers rebounded after James’ departure, thanks largely to another superstar player: Kyrie Irving. Irving led the team to four straight playoff appearances from 2015 to 2018. In 2016, the Cavs made it all the way to the NBA Finals, but lost to the Golden State Warriors in seven games. The following year, they redeemed themselves by defeating the Warriors in an epic seven-game series to win their first ever NBA championship.
Their Record
This year, the Cavaliers have had an up and down season, but they are currently the second seed in the Eastern Conference with a 51-31 record. They have been to the NBA Finals four times in the last six years, winning in 2016.
Their Star Players
Ever since LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love formed “The Big Three” back in 2014, the Cavaliers have been one of the best teams in the NBA. They’ve made it to the NBA Finals every year since then, and they’ve won the championship twice.
This year, the Cavs are back in the Finals for the fourth straight year. But they’re not the same team that they were when they first formed “The Big Three.” Irving is gone, Love is injured, and James is carrying the team on his back.
The Cavaliers are still a very good team, but they’re not as good as they used to be. And that’s why they’re only a slight favorite to win the Finals this year.
The Matchup
The Warriors and the Cavaliers are the last two teams standing in the NBA Finals. This is the fourth consecutive year that these two teams have met in the Finals, with the Warriors winning in 2015 and 2017 and the Cavaliers winning in 2016. This year’s Finals will be a best-of-seven series, with the first team to win four games taking home the championship. Who will come out on top this year?
Key Players
The Golden State Warriors are one win away from their third straight NBA Finals victory. The Warriors are led by two-time MVP Stephen Curry, who is averaging 28 points and six assists per game in the playoffs. Kevin Durant, the 2017 NBA Finals MVP, is averaging 26 points and seven rebounds per game. Draymond Green is averaging 12 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists per game.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are led by LeBron James, who is averaging 34 points, nine rebounds and eight assists per game in the playoffs. Kevin Love is averaging 21 points and 11 rebounds per game. Kyle Korver is averaging 11 points per game.
Game One
The Los Angeles Lakers took on the Miami Heat in game one of the 2020 NBA Finals. The Lakers won 103-101. James led the Lakers with 28 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, while Anthony Davis had 25 points and nine rebounds. Jimmy Butler led the Heat with 23 points, 10 assists and five rebounds. Bam Adebayo had 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Game Two
The second game of the NBA Finals is set to tips off tonight, and it looks to be another exciting matchup between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. After a dominant performance in game one, the Warriors will look to take a 2-0 lead in the series, while the Cavs will be hoping to even things up.
The Warriors are coming into this game with a lot of momentum, after their demolishing of the Cavaliers in game one. They will look to carry that over into game two, and put themselves in a strong position to win the series. The Cavaliers, on the other hand, will be looking to regroup and come out with a better performance. They will need to find ways to stop Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, who were both practically unstoppable in game one.
It should be another great game, and we’ll see if the Warriors can take a commanding lead in the series, or if the Cavaliers can even things up.
Game Three
The Cleveland Cavaliers are down 0-2 in the best of seven series against the Golden State Warriors. With two tough losses on their home court, the Cavs will have to go to Oakland and win at least one game to have a chance at winning the championship.
In game three, the Cavs will need to find a way to stop Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. Curry was superb in game two, scoring 33 points and hitting seven three-pointers. Thompson was also excellent, scoring 22 points and hitting five three-pointers. The Cavs simply have no answer for these two players.
LeBron James will need to have a big game for the Cavs to win. James is averaging 28 points per game in the Finals, but he has not been as efficient as he was in the first two rounds of the playoffs. The Cavs will need James to be at his best if they want to win game three.
The Warriors are a strong team, but the Cavs have proved that they can compete with them. If Cleveland can win game three, they will have a chance to come back and win the series.
