On July 4, 2017, Irving requested a trade from the Cavaliers, and on August 22, he was traded to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Žižić and a 2018 first-round draft pick. In his first season with Boston, Irving averaged 24.4 points per game en route to his second All-Star selection. The following year, he was named team captain, but only played eleven games due to injury before being sidelined for the remainder of the season and playoffs. In 2019–20, Irving averaged a career-high 27.4 points per game before suffering a season-ending knee injury in March 2020.
Duke
Kyrie Irving attended Duke University for his freshman season of college basketball. He led the team in scoring with 17.5 points per game and was named the USBWA National Freshman of the Year. After one season at Duke, Irving decided to declare for the NBA draft.
2012 NBA Rookie of the Year
In 2012, Kyrie Irving was the NBA Rookie of the Year. He was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft. Irving had a stellar rookie season, averaging 18.5 points and 5.4 assists per game. He has played for the Bulls (2011–2017), Minnesota Timberwolves (2017–2019), Philadelphia 76ers (2019–2020), and Miami Heat (2020–present).

Walker grew up in The Bronx, New York and played high school basketball for Rice High School. As a senior in 2008–09, he was named New York State Mr. Basketball after averaging 28.8 points per game and leading his team to a 27–3 record and a city championship. He played collegiately for Jim Calhoun at the University of Connecticut (UConn) from 2009 to 2011. As a freshman in 2009–10, he was named Big East Rookie of the Year after averaging 12.5 points per game. In his sophomore season, Walker led UConn to both the Big East regular season and tournament championships en route to being unanimously selected as the Big East Player of the Year and a first-team All-American. After his sophomore year, he declared for the 2011 NBA draft where he was selected ninth overall by Charlotte.
In 2012–13, his third season with Charlotte, Walker made his first playoff appearance as he helped lead the team to their first playoff berth since 2010. The following season, he averaged a then-career-high 17.7 points per game and made his second straight playoff appearance as Charlotte returned to the playoffs after a one-year absence. After another playoff appearance in 2014–15, Walker enjoyed his best season yet in 2015–16 as he averaged 20.9 points along with 5 assists per game on his way to being named an NBA All-Star for the first time in his career; he was also voted as a starter by fans for the Eastern Conference All-Star team. Following another quiet playoff performance by Walker and Charlotte in 2016–17, Walker had another strong season in 2017–18 as he averaged 22.1 points while shooting nearly 39 percent from three-point range en route to his second consecutive All-Star selection; he once again started for the Eastern Conference squad after being voted in by fans
