Who Are Still In The Nba Playoffs?

The NBA playoffs are in full swing and there are only a few teams left vying for the championship title. Who are still in the running and who do you think will take home the win?

Eastern Conference

The Eastern Conference is still wide open as the Toronto Raptors and the Boston Celtics are still duking it out for the top spot. The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers are also still in the mix, but it remains to be seen if they can make a deep run in the playoffs.

Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics are an American professional basketball team based in Boston, Massachusetts. The Celtics compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Atlantic Division. Founded in 1946 as one of the league’s original eight teams, playing their home games at Boston Garden, the Celtics won 17 NBA championships, tied with the Los Angeles Lakers for the most in NBA history. The franchise has produced numerous Hall of Fame players; among them are Bob Cousy, Bill Russell, Dave Cowens, John Havlicek, Larry Bird and Paul Pierce. In 2019–20, the Celtics are coached by Brad Stevens and led on the court by Kemba Walker.

Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors are a Canadian professional basketball team based in Toronto, Ontario. The Raptors compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Atlantic Division. They were established in 1995 as part of the NBA’s expansion into Canada, along with the Vancouver Grizzlies. When the Grizzlies relocated to Memphis, Tennessee to become the Memphis Grizzlies in 2001, the Raptors became the only Canadian-based team in the NBA.

The Raptors play their home games at the Scotiabank Arena, which they share with the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL). The team was founded in 1995 as part of the NBA’s expansion into Canada by five businessmen: John Bitove, Jim Balsillie, Phil Granovsky, Richard Peddie, and Michael Ignatieff. Fiscal conservatism byBitove and Balsillie resulted in a belief that an NBA team could be run cheaply and profitably in Toronto relative to other North American cities; however these same qualities also led to skepticism from potential investors and politicians who doubted whether such a venture could turn a profit or be successful given past attempts to establish an NBA presence in Canada — including two failed attempts to land franchises via successive bids by Granovsky and then Ignatieff for ownership of existing NBA teams that were up for sale.

The Raptors finished their inaugural season with a record of 21 wins and 61 losses. Chris Bosh was selected as the fourth overall pickin the 2003 NBA draft. In their second season, Bosh was quickly named as one of Franchise Player’s for his averages of 20 points and nine rebounds per game; he has since become one of their all-time leaders scoring 12,533 points over 799 games played with Toronto while shooting 49 percent from field-goal range and 79 percent from free-throw range.

Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers are a professional basketball team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They are members of the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The 76ers play their home games at the Wells Fargo Center.

Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers are an American professional basketball team based in Cleveland, Ohio. The Cavaliers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Central Division. The team began play as an expansion team in 1970, along with the Portland Trail Blazers and Buffalo Braves. Home games were first held at Cleveland Arena from 1970 to 1974, followed by the Richfield Coliseum from 1974 to 1994. Since 1994, the Cavs have played their home games at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in downtown Cleveland.

Western Conference

There are eight teams left in the Western Conference vying for a spot in the NBA Finals. The LA Lakers, LA Clippers, Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets, Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder, Dallas Mavericks, and Portland Trail Blazers are all still in the running. Who will come out on top?

Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets are a professional basketball team based in Houston, Texas. The Rockets compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as a member of the league’s Western Conference Southwest Division. The team plays its home games at the Toyota Center, located in downtown Houston. The Rockets have won four Western Conference titles.

Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors are an American professional basketball team based in Oakland, California. The Warriors compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Pacific Division. The Warriors have won six NBA championships, and have reached the NBA Finals four times in the past seven seasons.

The Warriors’ primary home court is at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, and they share a rivalry with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Portland Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers are an American professional basketball team based in Portland, Oregon. The Trail Blazers compete in the National Basketball Association as a member of the league’s Western Conference Northwest Division. The team played its home games in the Memorial Coliseum before moving to Moda Center in 1995 (called the Rose Garden until 2013). The franchise entered the league as an expansion team in 1970, and has enjoyed a strong following: from 1977 through 1995, the team sold out 814 consecutive home games, the longest such streak in American major professional sports at the time, and only since surpassed by Major League Baseball’s Boston Red Sox.

The Trail Blazers have been through some rebuilding phases over the years but they have always managed to be competitive. They are currently led by superstar guard Damian Lillard who is one of the best players in the league. The Blazers made it to the NBA playoffs last year but were knocked out in the first round. They will be looking to make a deeper run this year.

New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans are a professional basketball team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Pelicans compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Southwest Division. The team plays their home games at the Smoothie King Center.

NBA Finals

The NBA Finals are the championship series of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Eastern and Western conference champions play a best-of-seven game series to determine the league champion. The winning team of the series receives the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy.

Boston Celtics vs. Golden State Warriors

The 2018 NBA Finals was the championship series of the National Basketball Association (NBA)’s 2017–18 season and conclusion of the season’s playoffs. In this best-of-seven playoff, the defending NBA champions and Western Conference champions Golden State Warriors swept the Eastern Conference champions Cleveland Cavaliers 4 games to 0. This marked the fourth consecutive NBA Finals appearance for the Warriors, and their third in a row against the Cavaliers, respectively.

For the Cavaliers, this was their fourth consecutive trip to the NBA Finals, all coming against the Warriors. LeBron James appeared in his eighth consecutive NBA Finals, which tied him with Bill Russell and Sam Jones for second place for most consecutive appearances in an NBA Finals, behind only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who appeared in 10.

This was also the first time in Finals history that two teams had faced each other for a fourth consecutive year. It was also notable as only being the second time that two teams had met four times consecutively in any major North American professional league finals, after Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees vs. New York Giants World Series meetings from 1921 to 1924..
