The Rule

How Many Fouls You Can Have
In the National Basketball Association (NBA), players foul out after receiving their sixth personal foul during a game. If a player reaches five fouls while the game is in halftime or overtime, that player will remain in the game and their foul count will be reset to five. However, once a player reaches six total fouls at any time during the game, they will be immediately ejected from the contest.
The Exception
In the National Basketball Association, a player is automatically ejected from the game when they commit their sixth personal foul. If a player reaches five fouls while the game is still in progress, they will be replaced by another player and will not be allowed to play for the rest of the game.
