NBA Youngboy’s Early Life
NBA Youngboy, born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, came into the world on October 20, 1999, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Growing up in the Magnolia Projects, he found an escape from poverty and dysfunction through music. By his early teens, he was rapping and making a name for himself regionally. As his popularity increased, so did the trouble he found himself in: He was arrested for attempted murder in 2015 and spent time in jail before being released on bond in 2016.
NBA Youngboy’s Music Career
NBA Youngboy, born Kentrell Gaulden, is an American rapper from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He first gained attention with his single “Molly,” which was released in 2016. Youngboy’s debut album, “38 Baby,” was released in early 2017 and reached number 7 on the US Billboard 200 chart.
Since then, NBA Youngboy has released several more albums, including “AI Youngboy 2” and “Realer.” His most recent album, “Alive,” was released in 2020.
Throughout his career, NBA Youngboy has been involved in a number of legal troubles. In 2017, he was arrested on charges of attempted murder after shooting a man in Miami. Youngboy pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of aggravated assault and was sentenced to 10 years’ probation.
In March 2020, NBA Youngboy was arrested on charges of kidnapping and assault after an altercation with his girlfriend, Jania Jackson. Youngboy pleaded not guilty to the charges.
NBA Youngboy’s Legal Troubles
NBA Youngboy, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, has been in and out of legal trouble since he was a teenager. In 2015, he was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder after a drive-by shooting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The victim survived the shooting.
Youngboy pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of aggravated assault with a firearm and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but was released on probation after serving two years.
In 2017, he was arrested on drug and weapons charges in Georgia. The charges were later dropped.
In March 2018, he was arrested again in Atlanta on charges of kidnapping, assault and battery. He pleaded guilty to assault and battery, and the other charges were dropped. He was sentenced to one year in prison but was released on probation after serving nine months.
During his probationary period, Youngboy was arrested several times for various violations, including failing to appear in court, assaulting his girlfriend and violating his probation by leaving the state without permission.
In January 2020, he was sentenced to 11 months in prison for violating his probation. He was released from prison in November 2020.
