In the 1989 NBA playoffs, Chicago Bulls shooting guard Michael Jordan made an NBA playoff record 46 three-pointers in just five games against the Cleveland Cavaliers. His previous best was just 18 three-pointers during the regular season. The previous playoff record was held by Los Angeles Lakers small forward Byron Scott, who made 32 three-pointers in a seven-game series against the Seattle SuperSonics in 1987.

The record for most three-pointers made in a single playoff game is held by Stephen Curry, who made nine three-pointers in Game 3 of the 2016 NBA Finals. Curry finished the game with 33 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists as the Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 120-90 to take a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

In the 2001 NBA playoffs, Ray Allen made a record 22 3-pointers in a single series against the Charlotte Hornets. The previous record was 20, set by Reggie Miller in the 2000 NBA playoffs.
