Who Won the NBA Dunk Contest in 2022?
The NBA Dunk Contest is one of the most highly anticipated events of the basketball season. This year, fans were treated to an epic battle between some of the league’s best young players. In the end, it was Zion Williamson who came out on top, much to the delight of the crowd.
Zion Williamson
Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans won the 2022 NBA Dunk Contest, beating out defending champion Dwight Howard of the Los Angeles Lakers in the final round. Williamson becomes the first player to win the contest in his rookie season since Blake Griffin did so in 2009.
Ja Morant
Ja Morant became the first player in NBA history to win the Slam Dunk Contest, the Three-Point Contest and be named an All-Star starter in the same season.
Trae Young
In a victory for the ages, 21-year-old Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks won the NBA Dunk Contest in dramatic fashion, besting a field that included five other top dunkers. Young’s winning dunk came in the final round, when he threw down a windmill alley-oop from half court, earning a perfect score of 50 from the judges. It was a fitting end to a contest that saw Young put on an impressive show from start to finish.
Other contestants included Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon, who finished second; Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo, who finished third; Sacramento Kings forward Harrison Barnes, who finished fourth; and Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma, who finished fifth.

In 2022, the NBA Dunk Contest was won by Luka Doncic.
