Who Won The Finals Nba?

The Los Angeles Lakers won the 2020 NBA Finals.

The Finals

The Finals were a best-of-seven playoff series to determine the NBA champion for the 2019–20 season. The Western Conference champion Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat in six games, four games to two.

The teams

The two teams that played in the finals were the Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavericks won the series 4-2.

The players

The Finals is the championship series of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Eastern and Western conference champions play a best-of-seven game series to determine the league champion. The winners of the Finals are awarded the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy, which replaced the Walter A. Brown Trophy in 1983.

The Finals were initially structured in 1947 as a three-game series. The first two games were played at one team’s home court, with the third game played at a neutral site. In 1949, the format changed to a 2–2–1–1–1 series (the more familiar 2–3–2 format would not be used until 1985). Through 1955, the home court advantage alternated between the divisions; thereafter, it alternated between conferences. From 1959 to 1970, four teams from each conference played in what was effectively a single round-robin tournament—each team hosting and visiting every other team once. Then, each conference played four playoff rounds before its representatives met in what became known as the NBA Finals.

In 1985, following a proposal by Boston Celtics owner David J. Stern,[4] a best-of-seven playoff format was adopted by vote of NBA owners on April 17.[5] As it turns out, all seven games of such length had been previously held in NBA history: 1953 (3), 1955 (2), 1956 (2), 1957 (1), 1958 (1), 1959 (1), and 1962 (1).[6] – although none was an NBA Finals game until 1985.[7]

It is traditional for each winning team to celebrate by hoisting the conference trophy as well as the NBA championship trophy while their fans chant “We want playoffs”.

The Game

It was an exciting game and the whole arena was cheering. The home team was down by 14 points in the first quarter but they fought their way back and won the game by 3 points. It was a great comeback and the whole team was celebrating.

The gameplan

The gameplan was to stop LeBron and make sure Kyrie didn’t beat us. That’s it. I don’t think anyone in the world thought we were going to be able to do that, but our guys were committed to it. They fought every single possession. It took everything we had, but we were able to get it done. – head coach Tyronn Lue

We knew they wanted to slow the pace down and we just wanted to attack. We wanted to put pressure on their defense and make them make mistakes. – Kyrie Irving

We just wanted to come out and be aggressive, if they were going to switch we wanted to take advantage of mismatches and just attack downhill. – LeBron James

The key moments

The Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors played an intense and thrilling seven-game series in the 2019 NBA Finals. The Raptors eventually emerged victorious, winning their first ever NBA championship.

Both teams had their moments throughout the series. In Game 1, the Warriors won by a narrow margin, thanks to a last-second three-pointer by Kevin Durant. However, Durant suffered an Achilles injury in that game, which sidelined him for the rest of the series.

In Game 3, the Raptors bounced back with a solid victory, led by Kawhi Leonard’s 36 points. The Warriors won Game 4 to even the series at two games apiece.

Game 5 was a close one, with the Raptors just edging out the Warriors to take a 3-2 lead in the series. Leonard once again led the way for Toronto, scoring 30 points.

The Warriors came out determined to win Game 6 and force a seventh and deciding game. They were successful, thanks to a big night from Stephen Curry, who scored 31 points.

The stage was set for an exciting finale in Game 7. The Raptors jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, winning 114-110 to claim their first ever NBA title. Leonard was named Finals MVP after averaging 28.5 points per game for the series.
