When Will NHL Round 2 Start?

The NHL playoffs are in full swing, and we’re all wondering when the next round will start. Here are a few things to keep in mind as we wait for the schedule to be announced.

NHL Playoffs

If the NHL regular season were to end today, the 24 teams that would qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs are set. The top four teams in each conference would earn a playoff berth, but the seeding would not be set until the end of the regular season. The first round of the playoffs would begin on Wednesday, April 15.

Round 1

The first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs is complete, and we know the field of 16 teams that will compete for the championship.

The second round cannot start until all seven first-round series have been decided, and none can start before Saturday, April 28. That’s because the second-round schedule is based on two factors: geographic rivalry and rest.

The NHL wants to showcase its best matchup in each time slot during the second round, and that means pitting rivals against each other whenever possible. That’s why you see the Dallas Stars vs. the St. Louis Blues and the Colorado Avalanche vs. the San Jose Sharks in the early evening games on NBCSN during Round 2.

Round 2

The National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs are an elimination tournament held after the conclusion of the NHL regular season. The Stanley Cup, the oldest professional sports trophy in North America, is donated by the Governor General of Canada and is awarded to the playoff champion at the end of the playoffs.

The playoffs were first held in 1918, and have been held every year since 1947. The playoffs were expanded in 1967 from four teams to six teams, and then again in 1974 to include eight teams. The tournament now consists of sixteen teams, which means that fifteen teams compete for the Stanley Cup each year.

Round 2 of the NHL playoffs will start on Wednesday, April 17th.

When will the Stanley Cup Final start?

The Stanley Cup Final is the championship series of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Toronto Maple Leafs have won the most Stanley Cup championships overall with 13, while the Detroit Red Wings have won the most Stanley Cup championships since the NHL’s expansion in 1967. The Stanley Cup Final series is played in a best-of-seven format.

The Stanley Cup was first awarded in 1893, and originally it was contested between the champion of the National Hockey Association (NHA) and the champion of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA). After a dispute in 1914, the Stanley Cup was awarded to the NHL champion from 1915 onward. The NHL’s current playoff structure was adopted in 1926, when three teams from each division qualified for the playoffs. In 1938, a second division was created, and four teams from each division qualified for the playoffs.

The format changed again in 1974 when divisional playoff seeds were introduced and opened up more possibilities for cross-over match-ups. The number of teams qualifying for the playoffs increased over time, peaking at 28 out of 30 teams in 2013. The current playoff format features 16 teams (eight from each conference), with division winners being seeded 1–4 and wild card seeds 5–8, based on regular season records.

The Stanley Cup Final starts after all other playoff series have been completed and typically falls between May 27 and June 13.

End Dates

The Ottawa Senators and New York Rangers will play in the first round of the NHL playoffs. The schedule has not been released yet, but it is expected that the first game will be played on April 12th and the last game will be played on April 28th.

When will Round 2 end?

The second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs is upon us, and it’s already been a wild ride. We’ve seen big comebacks, big hits and some spectacular goaltending. But when will it all end?

The second round of the playoffs is a best-of-seven series, meaning the first team to win four games will advance to the conference finals. That means we could see Round 2 wrap up as early as next week or it could drag on into June.

Here’s a look at the schedule for the second round of the NHL playoffs:

When will the Stanley Cup Final end?

The Stanley Cup Final is a best-of-seven series played between the Eastern Conference and Western Conference champions to determine the National Hockey League (NHL) champion for that season. The series is played under a 2–2–1–1–1 format (recently changed from 2–3–2), meaning that the team with home-ice advantage hosts games one, two (as well as five and seven, if necessary) while their opponent hosts games three, four (as well as six, if necessary).[1]

The Stanley Cup Final is commonly referred to as the “Stanley Cup Finals”, “Stanley Cup Final series”, or simply “the Finals”. It is also occasionally referred to in North America as the “Final Series”, or more colloquially, the “Cup Final”.[2][3] The winner of this final round receives the Stanley Cup trophy. Traditionally, teams from Canadian cities have competed for the trophy, although American teams have also won it 11 times since 1927, when the NHL began allowing American-based teams to compete for punkte.
