Carmella was then pulled from all upcoming live events and WWE television tapings. She underwent multiple Impact concussion testing and was finally cleared to return to the ring on October 20th.

In October at NXT TakeOver: Respect, Carmella defeated Banks in a rematch to win the NXT Women’s Championship, making her the first woman to hold both the NXT Women’s Championship and the WWE 24/7 Championship simultaneously. She held both titles until April 5, when she was forced to vacate the NXT Women’s Championship due to an injury.
