Introduction

The Early Days- 1993-1997

WWE Raw originally debuted on January 11, 1993. The first ever episode was two hours long and aired live from the Grand ballroom at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The show was a big success, drawing in a then record-breaking 867,000 viewers.

Raw would continue to be two hours long for most of its early run, only occasionally going to three hours for special events. In 1995, Raw started airing live on Monday nights instead of taped on Fridays like it had been previously.

The show went through several changes during its first few years on air. The set and logo changed several times, and different segments and matches were added and dropped as WWE tried to figure out what worked best for the show.

Some of the most iconic moments from the early days ofRaw include Bret Hart winning the WWE Championship from Ric Flair in 1992, Shawn Michaels winning the Royal Rumble in 1995, and Mankind winning his first WWE Championship in 1996.

The Attitude Era- 1997-2002

The Attitude Era of WWE Raw ran from 1997 to 2002. The episode count for this era is as follows:

-2001: 48 episodes
-2002: 46 episodes

The Ruthless Aggression Era- 2002-2008

The Ruthless Aggression Era was a period in WWE history that began on the March 18, 2002, episode of WWE Raw. The era ended on the October 13, 2008, episode of Raw. The era was defined by the brand extension, which split WWE’s roster into two separate rosters, one for each brand. The other defining characteristic of the era was the rise of wrestlers from WWE’s developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW).

The PG Era- 2008-present
