WWE World Heavyweight Champion

The WWE World Heavyweight Championship is a professional wrestling world heavyweight championship created and promoted by the American professional wrestling promotion WWE on the SmackDown brand. It is one of two world titles in the WWE, alongside the WWE Universal Championship that was created for the Raw brand as a result of the 2016 WWE draft. The current champion is AJ Styles, who is in his second reign.

The title was established under then-WWE head Vince McMahon in 2002 as a unification of the WWF Championship and WCW Championship, which became vacant after WCW ceased operations in 2001 due to the buyout by Vince McMahon’s company, World Wrestling Entertainment. The title has been called the WWE Championship since September 2002, when McMahon abolishedWCW’s Triple Crown Championshipand united all three world titles under one banner.

A tournament was held later that month to determine who would be crowned champion. The first brand extension took place in March 2002, introducing both Raw and SmackDown!. As a result of the Brand Extension, then-World Champion Brock Lesnar became exclusive to Raw and then-Intercontinental Champion Kurt Angle became exclusive to SmackDown!, taking their respective titles with them to their new home brands over the next several months.

By August 2002, however, creative differences between Lesnar and McMahon caused Lesnar to leave WWE for good; as a result, his title reign was abruptly ended just five months after it began (making him one of only three men ever to hold both world championships simultaneously), and McMahon quickly convened a tournament at SummerSlam that same month to determine his successor; in an infamous move which has been heavily panned ever since, McMahon awarded himself sole ownership of both world titles as “co-champion” following Lesnar’s abandonment of his title belt at Lesnar’s request (the other co-champion being Kurt Angle).

WWE Universal Champion

The WWE Universal Championship is a world heavyweight championship created and promoted by the American professional wrestling promotion WWE on the SmackDown brand. It is one of two world titles in WWE, alongside the WWE Championship on the Raw brand. The current champion is Brock Lesnar, who is in his second reign.

WWE Intercontinental Champion

The WWE Intercontinental Championship is a professional wrestling championship created and promoted by the American professional wrestling promotion WWE on the SmackDown brand. It is one of two tertiary titles in the WWE, complementing the WWE Championship and preceding the United States Championship, which was originally an interim title for SmackDown. The current champion is Big E, who is in his first reign.

WWE United States Champion

The WWE United States Championship is a professional wrestling championship promoted by the American professional wrestling promotion WWE on the SmackDown brand. It is one of two secondary titles in WWE, complementing the WWE Championship. The current champion is Andrade, who is in his first reign.

Andrade defeated R-Truth to win the vacant title on the January 15, 2019 episode of SmackDown Live, becoming a two-time champion overall. This is Andrade’s second United States Championship reign and his first as a member of the SmackDown roster.

WWE Raw Tag Team Champions

The current WWE Raw Tag Team Champions are The Lucha House Party (Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado), who are in their first reign as a team. They defeated Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler at Clash of Champions on September 15, 2019, to win the titles.

WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions

The current WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions are The New Day (Big E and Xavier Woods), who are in their record setting fifth reign as a team.

WWE Cruiserweight Champion

The WWE Cruiserweight Championship is a professional wrestling championship created and promoted by the American professional wrestling promotion WWE on the 205 Live brand.
