Who Leads the NFL in Sacks?
The NFL season is well underway, and there have been some impressive sack totals so far. Who leads the league in sacks?
J.J. Watt
J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans leads the NFL in sacks with 17.5 so far this season. Watt is a defensive end who is in his sixth season in the NFL. He has been selected for the Pro Bowl five times and was named the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year three times.
Chandler Jones
As of Week 14 of the 2019 NFL season, Chandler Jones leads the NFL in sacks with 14.5. The Arizona Cardinals linebacker is followed by Shaquil Barrett of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (13.5), Danielle Hunter of the Minnesota Vikings (12.5), and T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers (11.5).
Cameron Wake
As of November 14th, 2019, Cameron Wake leads the NFL in sacks with 11.5. He is a defensive end for the Tennessee Titans.
Everson Griffen
Everson Griffen sacks QBs more than anyone else in the NFL.
With 13 sacks on the season, Griffen has been a one-man wrecking crew for the Minnesota Vikings. He’s racked up at least one sack in eight straight games, and his total is good for second in the NFL behind only Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt.
Griffen’s outstanding play has helped the Vikings become one of the best defensive teams in the league. They rank third in points allowed per game, and their defense will be key if they want to make a run at the playoffs.
