AFC Playoffs
The AFC playoffs are set and four playoff games will be played today. The first game is the Colts at the Bills and the second game is the Browns at the Steelers. The winner of the first game will play the winner of the second game next week for the AFC Championship.
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. They are members of the North Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The Ravens were established in 1996, when Art Modell, the owner of the Cleveland Browns, announced plans to relocate his franchise to Baltimore. In return for assuming ownership of the new franchise, Modell was allowed to take his current team’s players and personnel to Baltimore, where they were renamed the Ravens. The Ravens have qualified for the NFL playoffs ten times since 2000, with two Super Bowl wins (Super Bowl XXXV and XLVII), and two AFC Championship titles (2000 and 2012).
Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills are a professional American football team based in the Buffalo–Niagara Falls metropolitan area. The Bills compete in the National Football League (NFL), as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays their home games at New Era Field in Orchard Park, New York. The Bills are the only NFL team that plays its home games in the state of New York. The Bills conduct summer training camp at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford, New York, an eastern suburb of Rochester.

The team was founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans by businessman Lamar Hunt and was a charter member of the AFL in AFL. In 1963, the team relocated to Kansas City and assumed their current name. The Chiefs joined the NFL as a result of the merger in 1970. The team is valued at over $2 billion.
New England Patriots
The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston area. The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is located 28 miles (45 km) southwest of downtown Boston. Sequentially, the Patriots are also the oldest AFC team still playing their original home stadium, as well as being one of only two AFC teams that has never played in a Super Bowl (the other being the Jacksonville Jaguars).
The Patriots joined the NFL in 1970 as an expansion team, along with the Seattle Seahawks. They played their home games at Foxboro Stadium from 1971 to 2001; then moved to Gillette Stadium at the start of 2002. The Patriots’ rivalry with the New York Jets is considered one of the most bitter rivalries in NFL history.
NFC Playoffs
The NFC Playoffs are here and there are four great teams left vying for the chance to go to the Super Bowl. The New Orleans Saints, Los Angeles Rams, Chicago Bears, and Philadelphia Eagles all have great records and it should be a great set of games. Who do you think will come out on top?
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are a professional American football team based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The Cowboys compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) East division. They are one of the most successful teams in the history of the NFL, having appeared in eight Super Bowls, tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Denver Broncos for second most Super Bowl appearances, behind only the New England Patriots’ record eleven Super Bowl appearances. The Cowboys have won five of those Super Bowl appearances, tying them with their fellow NFC East division rivals, the Giants, for second most Super Bowl victories all-time, behind only the Green Bay Packers’ record thirteen victories.
Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers are a professional American football team based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Packers compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the National Football Conference (NFC) North division. It is the third-oldest franchise in the NFL, dating back to 1919, and is the only non-profit, community-owned major league professional sports team in the United States. Home games have been played at Lambeau Field since 1957.
The Packers are the last of the “small town teams” which were common in the NFL during the league’s early days of neighborhood teams. Founded in 1919 by Earl “Curly” Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun, the franchise traces its lineage to other semi-professional teams in Green Bay dating back to 1896. Between 1919 and 1920, the Packers competed against other semi-pro clubs from around Wisconsin and Michigan, before joining the American Professional Football Association (APFA), now known as the NFL, in 1921. Although Green Bay is by far the smallest major league professional sports market in North America, Forbes ranked the Packers as the world’s 26th most valuable sports franchise in 2016, with a value of $2.35 billion.
Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams are a professional American football team based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The Rams compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) West division. The Rams franchise was founded in 1936 as the Cleveland Rams in the short-lived second American Football League before joining the NFL the next year. In 1946, the franchise moved to Los Angeles. The Rams franchise remained in the metro area until 1994, when they moved to St. Louis, Missouri. The Rams franchise returned to Los Angeles in 2016.
The name of the team was changed to reflect its new city, Los Angeles, commonly shortened to “LA”. Through 1959, if there were two different teams in an NFL city (for example, if both Cleveland and Cincinnati had NFL franchises), one team was typically known as “the Browns” and the other as “the Cardinals”. As is common with other businesses that use Ancient Egyptian motifs, then-owner Georg Halas chose to name his team after an animal associated with Egyptian mythology: in this case, depictions of rams were common in reliefs and tomb paintings from that era. This usage continued through plain old “-ians”, when it gradually shifted to “-es” over time; today it is most commonly “-s”. The spelling changed because people started referring to them as “the LA Rams”, so Halas decided he’d rather have people pronounce their name correctly than have their name spelt incorrectly.[9] At that time there were few if any black players on NFL rosters.[10][11] Marshall’s expansion franchise became notable for signing several African American players including Woody Strode,[12][13] Ken Reed,[12] Ollie Matson,[14] Billy Cannon,[15][16] Tommy Wilson[17]and Joe Carter.[18
The move also helped when general manager Pete Rozelle began recruiting college talent such as USC running back Mike Garrett and Notre Dame linebacker Tim Rossovich; Garrett went on to win NFL Rookie of the Year and Rossovich played only one season but was on television frequently during his short career.[19] Garrett[20]and Rossovich[21])were joined by a number of veterans acquired via trade or free agency: quarterback Roman Gabriel (a star for years with Philadelphia), defensive lineman Deacon Jones(who became one of pro football’s all-time great pass rushers), linebacker Maxie Baughan (also from Philadelphia), kicker Dave Elmendorf(from New Orleans) and receiver Bobby Moore (later known as Ahmad Rashād).[22][23][24].
New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Saints currently compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) South division. The Saints were founded by John W. Mecom Jr., David Dixon, and the city of New Orleans on November 1, 1966. The team’s primary colors are old gold and black; their logo depicts a simple fleur-de-lis. They played their home games at Tulane Stadium from 1967 to 1974 and then the Louisiana Superdome from 1975 to 2005.
