It’s a close race, but currently, it looks like William Gay has the most forced fumbles in NFL history.
Derrick Thomas- 41
Derrick Thomas, who played for the Kansas City Chiefs from 1989 to 1999, is number one on the list with 41 forced fumbles. He was a first round pick in the 1989 NFL Draft and was selected for the Pro Bowl seven times. He is a member of the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 1990s.
Robert Mathis- 39
Robert Mathis is a former professional football player who played linebacker for fourteen seasons. He was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the fifth round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He played college football at Alabama A&M.
Mathis is the Colts’ all-time leader in sacks and forced fumbles. He is also second in franchise history in tackles for loss. He was a six-time Pro Bowl selection and was named First-team All-Pro four times. He was also the AFC sack leader in 2013.
He announced his retirement from football on February 7, 2017.
Charles Haley- 32
Charles Haley is a retired professional American football linebacker who played in the National Football League for thirteen seasons. He later won five Super Bowls as a member of the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys. He is the only player in NFL history to have won five Super Bowls with two different teams, and is also considered one of the best defensive players in NFL history. Haley’s forced fumble total of 32 is the most in NFL history.
Jared Allen- 31
Jared Allen is a retired American football defensive end. He played college football at Idaho State, and was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL) in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. After four seasons with the Chiefs, he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for multiple draft picks. He played for the Vikings from 2008 to 2013, and was traded to the Chicago Bears in 2014. He announced his retirement from professional football in 2015.
In his 12 NFL seasons, Allen amassed 136 sacks, which ranks 16th all-time and 9th among active players at the time of his retirement. He also forced 31 fumbles throughout his career, which is tied for fifth most all-time.
Jason Taylor- 29
Jason Taylor, who spent the majority of his career with the Miami Dolphins, is the NFL’s all-time leader in forced fumbles with 29. He is followed by John Randle (22), Michael Strahan (21), and Reggie White (20).
