TheRavens were established in 1996, when Art Modell, who was then the owner of the Cleveland Browns, announced plans to relocate the franchise to Baltimore. The Ravens were approved as an expansion team that year. They played their first game in Memorial Stadium in 1998. In 2002, the team moved to M&T Bank Stadium.

Under head coach John Harbaugh, who was hired in 2008,the Ravens have qualified for the playoffs seven times and won two AFC North division titles (in 2011 and 2012), reaching the AFC Championship twice (in 2011and 2012).
