Drew Brees was born in Austin, Texas, on January 15, 1979, the son of Asha and Mina Brees. He has an older brother named Reid and a younger sister named Audrey. His parents both have French ancestry, and his mother worked as a lawyer prior to her marriage to his father. When Bree’s was three years old, his family moved to Westlake, Texas, where he attended Westlake High School.

Brees originally enrolled at PURDUE University intending to study pharmacy, but he soon switched his major to marketing. He also took up playing football for the first time in college. After winning the Big Ten Conference’s 1996-97 freshman of the year award, Brees suffered a serious shoulder injury that caused him to miss most of his sophomore season.
