The teams
The playoffs for the 2019 baseball season are set. The teams that are playing are the Houston Astros, the New York Yankees, the Minnesota Twins, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. These are all very good teams, and it should be a fun playoffs.
American League
As the regular season comes to a close, the top two teams from each division head to the MLB playoffs. In the American League, it’s the Houston Astros and the New York Yankees in the AL East, the Minnesota Twins and the Cleveland Indians in the AL Central, and the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros in the AL West. The top Wild Card team is also determined, and this year it’s going to be between the Tampa Bay Rays, Oakland Athletics, Boston Red Sox, and Texas Rangers. Who will win it all?
National League
The National League playoff picture is looking very clear. As of right now, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs are in first and second place in the NL respectively. The Washington Nationals are in third place, but they are five games behind the Dodgers and four games behind the Cubs. The San Francisco Giants are in fourth place, but they are seven games behind the Dodgers and six games behind the Cubs. There is no way that the Giants are going to catch up to either team, so it looks like the Dodgers and Cubs will be the two teams representing the National League in the playoffs.
The players
As the regular season comes to an end, the playoffs are set to begin. Who are the players that will be participating?
American League
The American League of Major League Baseball (AL) is one of two leagues that make up the sport. It was founded in 1901 as the result of the Western League’s merger with the National League. Today, it is comprised of 15 teams, divided equally between the East and West Divisions. The league’s playoffs determine who will advance to play in the World Series.
In recent years, the AL has seen a fair share of dominant teams, including the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. However, any team in the league has a chance to make it to the playoffs if they play well enough during the regular season. The AL playoffs typically begin in early October and conclude with the World Series in late October or early November.
National League
The National League of Major League Baseball is made up of 15 teams. Seven teams make the playoffs each year, four division winners and three wild cards. The division winners are the team in each division with the best record. The wild card teams are the two teams with the best records who did not win their division.
The playoffs are a best of five series. The first two games are at the home of the team with the better record, the next two games are at the home of the team with the worse record, and if necessary, game five is back at the better team’s home field.
The winner of each series goes on to play in either the National League Championship Series or, if they are one of the division winners, the one game Wild Card Playoff.
The fans
The fans are always the biggest winners when it comes to the baseball playoffs. They get to watch their team play in the most important games of the season and they also get to see the other great teams in the league. The fans also get to experience the excitement of the playoffs and the World Series.
