The 2021 NBA season is right around the corner and we’re looking at how many games each team will play.
The NBA Season
The NBA season is composed of 82 games. Half of these games are played at home, while the other half are played away. In a given week, there are typically two or three games played. The season starts in October and ends in June. The All-Star game is played in February.
The regular season
The 2021 NBA regular season will tip off on December 22, 2020 and conclude on May 16, 2021. Each team will play 72 games in the regular season.
The playoffs
The NBA playoffs are a best-of-seven elimination tournament held after the conclusion of the regular season to determine the league’s champion.
The eightFirst Round winners advance to the Second Round, where they compete against each other in two best-of-seven series (based on seeding, with seeds 1-8 facing off in one series and seeds 4-5 in the other).
The four victors of those series then progress to the Conference Finals, also a best-of-seven series. The winner of each Conference Finals series goes on to compete in the NBA Finals, which is also a best-of-seven affair.
Assuming there are no postponements or cancellations, the 2021 NBA playoff format would have First Round games taking place from May 22 through June 4, followed by the Second Round from June 5 through June 20. The Conference Finals would be contested from June 21 through July 5, with the NBA Finals beginning on July 7 and running throughJuly 21.

The playoffs
The playoffs are a best-of-seven format, with each team playing one game at home and one game on the road until a winner is determined. The playoffs began on April 15, 2021 and will end no later than June 15, 2021.
