Zion Williamson

Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans has been named the NBA’s Rookie of the Year for the 2020-21 season. The award was announced on Monday. Williamson is the first Pelicans player to win the award since it was first given out in 1952.

Averaged 22.5 points per game

Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans was unanimously voted the NBA’s Rookie of the Year on Tuesday, becoming just the second player to receive all first-place votes in the award’s history.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 draft averaged 22.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game in his first season, helping lead the Pelicans to a playoff berth. He is just the third player since 1985 to average at least 22 points and shoot 60% from the field, joining Shaquille O’Neal and David Robinson.

Williamson joins Damian Lillard as the only players to receive all 100 first-place votes from a panel of sports writers and broadcasters who cover the NBA. Lillard accomplished the feat in 2013.

Averaged 6.3 rebounds per game

Williamson was averaging 6.3 rebounds per game before the All-Star break, which was tied for the sixth-best mark among all rookies. He averaged 5.9 rebounds per game after the break, which was tied for the ninth-best mark among all rookies.

Averaged 2.2 assists per game

In his first season with the New Orleans Pelicans, Zion Williamson averaged 2.2 assists per game to go along with his 21.0 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.

The rookie sensation out of Duke University was a top pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, going No. 1 overall to the Pelicans. He is one of the most hyped up players in recent memory and did not disappoint during his debut season in the league.

Williamson finished second in Rookie of the Year voting behind Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Ja Morant won the 2021 NBA Rookie of the Year. He is the first player in franchise history to win the award. Morant beat out Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans and Tyler Herro of the Miami Heat for the honor.

Ja Morant, who averaged 17.6 points per game for the Memphis Grizzlies, was unanimously voted the NBA’s Rookie of the Year on Tuesday.

Morant, 21, is the third player in NBA history to receive all 100 first-place votes from a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James did it in 2004 and Houston Rockets center Yao Ming in 2003.

In his first season in the NBA, Morant quickly became one of the most exciting players to watch. He averaged 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 7 assists per game while shooting nearly 37% from three-point range. His Dunks were also a thing of legend, and he won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest during All-Star Weekend.

In his debut season, Morant averaged 17.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game, shooting 37.5 percent from three-point range. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team and was a finalist for the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, which ultimately went to Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans.

RJ Barrett

RJ Barrett, the third overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, had a strong rookie season for the New York Knicks. The 20-year-old averaged 15.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.
