Zion Williamson
Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans has been named the NBA’s Rookie of the Year for the 2020-21 season. The award was announced on Monday. Williamson is the first Pelicans player to win the award since it was first given out in 1952.

Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans was unanimously voted the NBA’s Rookie of the Year on Tuesday, becoming just the second player to receive all first-place votes in the award’s history.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 draft averaged 22.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game in his first season, helping lead the Pelicans to a playoff berth. He is just the third player since 1985 to average at least 22 points and shoot 60% from the field, joining Shaquille O’Neal and David Robinson.
Williamson joins Damian Lillard as the only players to receive all 100 first-place votes from a panel of sports writers and broadcasters who cover the NBA. Lillard accomplished the feat in 2013.

Williamson was averaging 6.3 rebounds per game before the All-Star break, which was tied for the sixth-best mark among all rookies. He averaged 5.9 rebounds per game after the break, which was tied for the ninth-best mark among all rookies.

Ja Morant won the 2021 NBA Rookie of the Year. He is the first player in franchise history to win the award. Morant beat out Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans and Tyler Herro of the Miami Heat for the honor.
