The Western Conference is made up of fifteen teams, organized into three divisions. The teams in each division play each other more often than those in other divisions, so they have a better chance of winning their divisional title.
The top eight teams in the conference make the playoffs, regardless of divisional affiliation. The playoff format is a best-of-seven series, with the team that has the better regular season record getting home-court advantage.
In the first round, the divisional champions are seeded first and second and play the winners of the first two playoff games. The other two divisional runners-up are seeded third and fourth and play each other. The winners of those two series then play the top seeds in the second round.
The Conference Finals pit the two second-round winners against each other, with the winner advancing to the NBA Finals.
The Teams
Tonight, the Chicago Bulls will be playing the Milwaukee Bucks and the Los Angeles Lakers will be playing the Golden State Warriors. These are four great teams that have been playing well this season.
