– Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: Kareem played center for the Lakers from 1975 to 1989, winning five championships. He is the NBA’s all-time leading scorer and was named MVP of the NBA Finals six times.

The Warriors’ history dates back to 1946, when they were founded in Philadelphia. They were originally known as the Philadelphia Warriors, and they won the NBA championship in 1947. In 1962, the team moved to San Francisco and became the San Francisco Warriors. In 1971, they changed their name to the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors won their second NBA championship in 1975, led by players like Rick Barry and Jamaal Wilkes. The 2020 NBA Finals was the championship series of the National Basketball Association (NBA)’s 2019–20 season and the conclusion of the 2020 NBA Playoffs. In this best-of-seven playoff, the Western Conference champion Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat, four games to two, to win their 17th NBA championship and the Lakers’ first since 2010.
The series
The 2020 NBA Finals was the championship series of the National Basketball Association (NBA)’s 2019–20 season and conclusion of the season’s playoffs. In order to win an NBA championship, a team must win four games out of a seven-game series. The 2020 NBA Finals was contested between the Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat and the Western Conference champion Los Angeles Lakers, with the Lakers defeating the Heat in six games to win their record-tying 17th NBA championship. This was also the first Finals appearance for both teams since 2010.
The Lakers won game one 102–96, behind Anthony Davis’s 34 points and 10 rebounds. In Game 2, Danny Green set an NBA record for three-pointers made in a Finals game (seven), as the Lakers won 124–114. The Heat won game three 115–104 behind Bam Adebayo’s 32 points and 14 rebounds, as well as Duncan Robinson’s 26 points off the bench. Jimmy Butler scored 40 points in Game 4 as the Heat evened the series with a 112–109 victory; it was their first finals victory since James left Cleveland in 2018. Robinson set another Finals three-point record with nine made threes in Game 5, but his 35 points were not enough to stop the Lakers from winning 111–108 and taking a 3–2 lead in the series.
