The Tampa Bay Lightning are an American professional ice hockey team based in Tampa, Florida. In 2009, they became only the third team to reach conference finals consecutively as an eighth seed or lower since 1966 (joining St. Louis in 1968 and Nashville in 2004). Making it to back-to-back conference finals has not been done since Colorado accomplished this feat between 1996 and 2001 (and they would ultimately win two Stanley Cups over those five years).
