New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Mecom Jr., David Dixon, and the city of New Orleans on November 1, 1966. The Saints began play in Tulane Stadium in 1967.

The name “Saints” is an allusion to November 1 being All Saints Day in the Catholic faith, as the original franchise was founded under the auspices of the Catholic Church. Acquiring its name from that historical tie to its city, and Religious connection tradition to its notably large Catholic population, who have supported its teams for decades Superintendent Warren Easton urged representatives from ten local interest groups to select a name for their new football team. From those ten, the common selection by most groups was “Pelicans.” This name was turned down by then-NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle because he felt it didn’t sound tough enough.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are a professional American football team based in Seattle, Washington. They are members of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The Seahawks joined the NFL in 1976 as an expansion team, along with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
