How the 2020 NFL Playoffs Work
The 2020 NFL Playoffs will begin on Saturday, January 4th and will end with the 52nd Super Bowl on Sunday, February 2nd. The playoffs will consist of four rounds of playoffs, beginning with the Wild Card round, followed by the Divisional round, the Conference Championships, and finally the Super Bowl. A total of 12 teams will make the playoffs, with six teams coming from each conference.
The 2020 NFL Playoff Bracket
The National Football League (NFL) playoffs are a single-elimination tournament held after the regular season to determine the NFL champion. Seven teams from each of the league’s two conferences qualify for the playoffs. A series of four rounds are played to determine who will represent each conference in the Super Bowl, the league’s annual championship game.
The first round of the playoffs, nicknamed the Wild Card round, consists of four match-ups featuring the two wild card teams from each conference. The winners of these games advance to the Divisional round, where they face off against the top-seeded teams from their respective conferences. The divisional round winners then move on to conference championships, with the NFC Championship and AFC Championship determining which two teams will square off in the Super Bowl.
The bracket is reseeded after each round so that the surviving team with the lowest seed number is always matched against the surviving team with the highest seed number. In cases where three or more teams from one conference survive to a particular round, those teams are also re-seeded so that they do not all play each other.
