American League
The American League playoffs are in full swing and the competition is heating up. The New York Yankees are facing off against the Minnesota Twins, while the Houston Astros take on the Tampa Bay Rays. Who will come out on top?
Boston Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox are an American professional baseball team based in Boston, Massachusetts. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) East division. The Red Sox have won nine World Series championships, tied for the third-most of any MLB team, and they have played in 13. Their most recent title came in 2018, when they beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2018 World Series. In addition, they won the 1907 and 1912 World Series, which were then considered Major League titles under new ownership rules. The Red Sox’s history has also been marked by the team’s intense rivalry with the Yankees, arguably the fiercest and most historic professional sports rivalry in North America. The Boston Red Sox are consistently one of the top MLB teams in average road attendance, while the small capacity of Fenway Park prevents them from leading in overall attendance.
Cleveland Indians
The Cleveland Indians are an American professional baseball team based in Cleveland, Ohio. The Indians compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) Central division. They play their home games at Progressive Field, located in the downtown area.

Cleveland plays host to the annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony; fans and critics alike often refer to Cleveland as the “Rock and Roll Capital of the World”. Along with New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago, Cleveland is one of only four U.S. cities with three major professional sports teams – the MLB Indians, NBA Cavaliers, and NFL Browns.
Cleveland was selected as the host city for the 2017 MLB All-Star Game at Progressive Field.
Houston Astros
The Houston Astros are an American professional baseball team based in Houston, Texas. The Astros compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) West division, having moved to the division in 2013 after spending their first 51 seasons in the National League (NL).
