Westbrook averaged 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists per game — all career highs — while leading the Thunder to a 47-35 record and the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference playoffs. He also set an NBA record with 42 triple-doubles in a season, bettering the previous mark of 41 set by Oscar Robertson in 1961-62.

James Harden was named the 2016-2017 NBA MVP on Monday, becoming the first Houston Rockets player to win the award since Hakeem Olajuwon in 1994-95.
The 27-year-old guard/forward received 86 first-place votes and 11 second-place votes from a panel of 100 media members, easily outdistancing second-place finisher Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder (34 first-place votes, 29 second-place votes).
Harden led the Rockets to a 55-27 record, their best mark since going 56-26 in 2008-09, and the third seed in the Western Conference playoffs. He averaged 29.1 points, 11.2 assists and 8.1 rebounds per game while shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from three-point range.

LeBron James was named the 2016-2017 NBA MVP on Monday, becoming the first player in league history to win the award four times.
James, 32, finished the regular season averaging 26.4 points, 8.7 assists and 8.6 rebounds per game, leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 51-31 record and the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
He becomes just the fifth player to win four MVP awards, joining Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (six), Michael Jordan (five), Bill Russell (five) and Wilt Chamberlain (four).
James is also a two-time NBA champion and a 14-time All-Star.

After much discussion and debate, the winner of the 2014-2015 NBA MVP Award is James Harden of the Houston Rockets! In what was perhaps one of the most competitive MVP races in recent memory, Harden narrowly edged out Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors for the prestigious honor.
Harden had an incredible season, leading the Rockets to the Western Conference Finals while averaging 27.4 points, 7.0 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game. He was also named to the All-NBA First Team and was selected as an NBA All-Star for the second time in his career.
Curry, meanwhile, had a phenomenal year himself, setting an NBA record with 272 three-pointers while averaging 23.8 points, 7.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game. He helped lead the Warriors to an NBA-best 67-15 record and was named to the All-NBA Second Team.
In the end, though, it was Harden who earned enough votes from a panel of sports writers and broadcasters to take home the coveted MVP trophy. It’s hard to argue with his selection, as he was simply outstanding all season long and deserves all the credit in the world for his incredible performance.

Russell Westbrook is an American professional basketball player for the Oklahoma City Thunder of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins and was selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft by the Seattle SuperSonics who then traded him to the Oklahoma City Thunder. A nine-time NBA All-Star, Westbrook has been named an All-Star MVP three times and he led the league in scoring in 2014–15 and 2016–17. He is also a seven-time All-NBA team member, led the league in assists once, and is one of only two players to average a triple-double for a season. Westbrook also set an NBA record for most triple-doubles in a season with 42. He went on to win his first NBA championship as a member of the Thunder in 2012
In 2017, he was named one of the ten finalists for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2020.
