Njardvik Basketball Club’s History
Njardvik Basketball Club was founded in 2006 by a group of passionate basketball enthusiasts The club has since then developed into one of the leading youth basketball clubs in Iceland. Njardvik has always been committed to providing young players with the opportunity to develop their skills and talents in a supportive environment.
Njardvik’s teams have enjoyed success both in Iceland and internationally. The club’s U19 team has won the Icelandic championship four times, and the U16 team has won it three times. Njardvik has also won the Nordic Championship three times, and the Baltic League Championship once.
In recent years Njardvik has been focusing on developing its international activities. The club has participated in various tournaments in Europe, including the Barcelona National Tournament the Schio National Tournament and the Heraklion International Tournament. Njardvik has also played friendly matches against some of the best youth teams in Europe such as Real Madrid’s U18 team, FC Barcelona’s U18 team, and CSKA Moscow’s U18 team.

Njardvik Basketball Club is looking to the future with the help of its two new head coaches Gudmundur Jonsson and Sigurdur Jonsson.
Gudmundur and Sigurdur, both natives of Njardvik, join the club with a wealth of experience in basketball. Gudmundur coached at the youth level for many years before moving on to coaching at the senior level. He has also worked as a scout for professional teams in Europe Sigurdur has coached at both the youth and senior levels, and has also been involved in player development
“We are very excited to have Gudmundur and Sigurdur on board,” said Njardvik president Helga Jonsdottir. “Their experience and knowledge of the game will be a great asset to our club.”
