While there are always a few players who stand out above the rest, the vast majority of players who attend Travel Baseball tryouts are evenly matched in terms of ability. So, what do scouts look for when evaluating players at Travel Baseball tryouts?
One of the first things scouts look for is a player’s athletic ability. While baseball is a relatively slow-paced sport, it still requires a certain amount of athleticism. scouts will be looking for players who can run well, throw well, and hit for power. They will also be looking to see if a player has the potential to play multiple positions
Another important thing that scouts look for is a player’s attitude. Baseball is a game that requires a great deal of mental fortitude. scouts want to see players who are coachable and willing to work hard. They also want to see players who are good teammates and able to maintain their composure under pressure.
Finally, scouts will also be looking at a player’s intangibles. This includes things like intelligence, hustle, and grit. While these things may be difficult to quantify, they can often be the difference between a good player and a great player.
