Whether you played the original Backyard Baseball on your PC or one of the many versions that followed, you likely remember fondly the cast of characters you could choose from. From musical Mickey to slugger Pete Wheeler each kid had their own unique skills and personality.
For nostalgic fans and newcomers alike, here is a comprehensive list of all the Backyard Baseball characters, including which version of the game they first appeared in.
Pablo Sanchez: Appeared in all versions of the game from original to last. All-around best player in terms of batting, pitching, and base-running.
Andy Pafko: Original game only. One of the weakest hitters but had a very strong arm for a catcher.
Michael Jordan: Only appeared in Super Nintendo and Game Boy Advance versions. Statistically similar to Pablo Sanchez but was faster on the bases.
Mickey Mantle: Only appeared in Super Nintendo and Game Boy Advance versions. A power hitter with below average fielding ability.
Pete Wheeler: Appeared in all versions of the game except original. A power hitter with poor fielding ability but above average speed.
Goose Goslin: Appeared in all versions except original. Average player with a very strong arm for an outfielder.

1. Pete Wheeler – The team captain and starting pitcher, Pete is a reliable leader who always has his team’s best interests at heart.
2. Ashley Johnson – One of the best hitters in the league, Ashley is also a talented infielder with a strong arm.
3.ango Garcia – A star outfielder with a great glove and a powerful bat,ango is the perfect player to anchor your outfield.
4. Kenny Kawaguchi – A slick-fielding shortstop with considerable speed, Kenny is essential for any championship team.
5. Juan Rodriguez – A shoo-in for any All-Star team Juan is an incredibly talented catcher who always seems to come up big in the biggest moments.
6. Maria Sanchez – A utility player who can play just about anywhere on the field, Maria is a valuable asset to any team because of her versatility and athleticism.
7. Timothy O’Malley – A hard-throwing relief pitcher with plenty of experience, Timothy is always ready to come in and get the job done when called upon.
8. Toshiaki Suzuki – A dominating starting pitcher with a nasty repertoire of pitches, Toshiaki is one of the most feared pitchers in the league.
The Benchwarmers
Backyard Baseball is a computer game franchise first released in 1997. It is most notable for being one of the first sports Video games to feature child versions of professional athletes, as well as for its user-friendly and lifelike graphics for its time. Backyard Baseball was developed by Humongous Entertainment and published by Atari. The game eventually spawned many sequels and characters.
The Benchwarmers are a team of Backyard Baseball characters who do not start the game, but are available to be drafted onto any team once the player gains enough points. The Benchwarmers include:
-Pablo Sanchez: A nine-year-old Hispanic boy who is the pitcher and captain of the team. He is known for his “mystic powers” of controlling the ball, which often result in bizarre pitches that no one else can replicate.
-Vinnie Turk: An African American boy who is the catcher. He is known for his pathological fear of germs, which often leads to him trying to clean things obsessively or avoiding contact with others altogether.
– Tammy Swanson: A blond girl who is one of the team’s best hitters but refuses to run the bases, claiming she doesn’t want to get sweaty.
-Andre Le Roi: A French Canadian boy who is an excellent fielder but has trouble Hitting the ball He is also known for his large appetite and love of baguettes.
-Jimmie Rodgers: An African American boy who is one of the fastest runners on the team but has trouble hitting the ball consistently.

In Backyard Baseball there are many ways to play. You can play as one of the teams, you can create your own team, or you can play a pick-up game with characters from any of the teams. The following is a list of MVPs* from each team, as well as a few other All-Star Players

One of the great things about Backyard Baseball is that there are so many different characters to choose from. Whether you prefer the all-around abilities of Pablo Sanchez or the powerful hitting of Homerunner Rodriguez, there’s a character for everyone.
And while each character has their own unique abilities, they can broadly be classified into one of four categories: the Rookies, the Superstars, the All-Stars, and the Legends. In this article, we’ll be taking a closer look at the Rookies.
The Rookies are a group of young up-and-comers who are just trying to make their mark on the Backyard Baseball World They’re not afraid to take risks and they’re always looking to prove themselves.
Some of the most popular Rookies include:
-Pablo Sanchez: The all-around superstar. Pablo is an excellent hitter, fielder, and pitcher. He’s small but he packs a big punch.
-Katie Johnson: One of the best female players in the game. Katie is a power hitter with a strong arm. She’s also one of the fastest runners in the game.
--Mario Mendoza A defensive specialist who is known for his excellent fielding abilities. Mario doesn’t have much power at the plate but he more than makes up for it with his glove.
The Underdogs
The Underdogs are a team of Backyard Baseball characters who are considered to be the weakest team in the game. Despite their lack of skill, they always find a way to win, usually through sheer luck.
The team is made up of the following characters:
-Pete Wheeler: The captain of the team, Pete is a skinny kid with big glasses. He is not very talented, but he is a good leader and motivator.
-Ashley Ward: Ashley is a tomboyish girl who is one of the better players on the team. She has a strong throwing arm and is a good hitter.
-Vinnie Tedesco: Vinnie is an Italian-American kid who is small for his age. He is not very athletic, but he has a good batting average
– Benny Rodriguez: Benny is a Hispanic kid who is the best all-around player on the team. He is a good hitter and fielder, and he has a strong throwing arm.
The Superstars
The Superstars are the best of the best in backyard baseball They’re the ones you want on your team if you want to win.
– Pete Wheeler: Pete is the captain of the Superstars and the best all-around player in backyard baseball He’s a great hitter and fielder, and he has a strong arm for pitching.
– Subash “Subi” Satcham: Subi is an amazing pitcher, with a powerful fastball and a great curveball. He’s also a decent hitter and fielder.
– Rosena Costner: Rosena is one of the best hitters in Backyard Baseball She has a strong arm for pitching, and she’s also a decent fielder.
– Marky Dubois: Marky is an incredible fielder, with a strong arm for throwing out runners. He’s also a solid hitter, though he doesn’t have as much power as some of the other Superstars.
The Legends
There are a total of 72 Legends in Backyard Baseball Legends are the best of the best players in the game. They are unlockable by completing Missions. Most of the Legends are based on real-life professional baseball players but there are also a few characters that are original to the game.

In backyard baseball there are a lot of Great players to choose from. But some players are just better than others. They’re the ones that always seem to get on base, hit the Long Ball and make the great catches. They’re the ones that we all want on our team. They’re the Hall of Famers
Pete Wheeler is one of those players. He’s got it all: power, speed, and a great arm. He’s one of the best hitters in the game, and he’s also one of the best fielders. He’s a true five-tool player.
Another Hall of Famer is Amit Singh. Amit is another player with a great all-around game. He’s an outstanding hitter and fielder, and he has a strong arm. Amit is also a very good baserunner.

Pablo Sanchez: The best player in the game, Pablo was an unstoppable force at the plate and on the mound. He was the perfect teammate, always willing to help out his friends and never afraid to give 110%.
Mike Piazza: One of the best hitters in the game, Mike was always a threat to go deep. He was also a great fielder, making him a well-rounded player.
Anthony Nelson: A power hitter with a great arm, Anthony was one of the best all-around players in Backyard Baseball. He could do it all, and he was always one of the first players chosen in pick-up games
Lisa Fernandez: One of the few girls in the game, Lisa was a force to be reckoned with. She had a great arm and was always a threat at the plate. She was also one of the nicest people in Backyard Baseball, always lending a helping hand to her teammates.
