2019 NHL Draft Prospect Rankings: Top 10 Forwards
The 2019 NHL Draft is fast approaching, and with that in mind, it’s time to take a look at the top 10 forwards who are eligible for selection.
This year’s class is loaded with high-end talent, and there should be a number of impact players taken in the first round. Here’s a look at the top 10 forwards who are eligible for the 2019 NHL Draft
2019 NHL Draft Prospect Rankings: Top 10 Defensemen
In preparation for the 2019 NHL Draft NHL.com has ranked the top 10 draft-eligible defensemen. These rankings are based on evaluations of scouts and draft experts.
The top-ranked defenseman is Bowen Byram of the Vancouver Giants in the Western Hockey League Byram is a two-way defenseman with good size and skating ability. He is an excellent puck-moving defenseman who can also contribute offensively.
Byram is followed by Ville Heinola of Lukko in Finland’s Liiga. Heinola is a smart, mobile defenseman who makes good decisions with the puck. He’s a good skater with good vision and playmaking ability.
The third-ranked defenseman is Phillip Broberg of AIK in Sweden’s Allsvenskan. Broberg is a big, strong defenseman who is a good skater and has good offensive instincts. He’s a good two-way player who can contribute at both ends of the ice.
Rounding out the top 10 are: Moritz Seider (Adler Mannheim, Germany), Thomas Harley (Mississauga Steelheads, OHL), Dylan Samberg (Minnesota Duluth NCAA), Matthew Robertson (Edmonton Oil Kings WHL), K’Andre Miller (Wisconsin, NCAA), Jakob Zboril (Saint John Sea Dogs, QMJHL) and Nicholas Robertson (Peterborough Petes, OHL).

The 2019 NHL Draft is fast approaching, and with it comes the chance for NHL Teams to add some young talent to their rosters. This year’s draft is loaded with promising prospects from all over the world, but there are a handful of European skaters who are especially worth keeping an eye on.

2019 NHL Draft Prospect Rankings: Top 10 Overall Prospects
1. Jack Hughes, C, USA U-18 (NTDP): The consensus top overall prospect in the 2019 draft, Hughes is an electric offensive player with great speed and tremendous vision. He put up 34 goals and 112 points in 50 games with the NTDP this season.
2. Kaapo Kakko, RW, TPS (Finland): Kakko is a big (6-foot-2, 194 pounds), strong winger who is excellent at using his body to protect the puck and make plays in the offensive zone He had 22 goals and 38 points in 45 games for TPS this season.
3. Dylan Cozens, C/RW, Lethbridge Hurricanes (WHL): A versatile forward who can play both center and wing, Cozens is an outstanding skater with good size (6-foot-3, 185 pounds) and a nose for the net. He scored 34 goals and 84 points in 68 games for Lethbridge this season.
4. Bowen Byram, D, Vancouver Giants (WHL): Byram is an elite offensive defenseman with great skating ability and a knack for getting his shot through from the point. He had 26 goals and 71 points in 67 games for Vancouver this season.
5. Trevor Zegras, C/LW, USA U-18 (NTDP): A creative playmaker with outstanding vision and hockey sense, Zegras had 27 goals and 102 points in 64 games with the NTDP this season. He also played four games with the men’s national team at the IIHF World Championship scoring one goal.
6. Peyton Krebs, C/LW, Kootenay Ice (WHL): Krebs is an excellent skater with good size (6-foot-1, 180 pounds) and outstanding vision and creativity as a playmaker. He scored 19 goals and 69 points in 64 games for Kootenay this season.
7 Kirby Dach , C , Saskatoon Blades : A big Power Forward at 6 – 4 , 198 pounds , Dach uses his size well to win battles along the boards and create space for himself and his teammates . He had 25 goals 66 points 62 games for Saskatoon this season .
8 Vasili Podkolzin , RW , SKA – Neva St . Petersburg : Podkolzin is a skilled winger who plays a game predicated on speed , energy tenacity . He ‘ s also shown some flashes of offensive upside , scoring nine goals in just 28 games against men in Russia ‘ ssecond – tier professional league this season .

8 Peyton Krebs C Winnipeg ICE (WHL) : An incredibly gifted playmaker with excellent vision and hockey sense, Krebs is one of the most creative players in this year’s draft class . He sees the ice very well and always seems to make things happen when he has the puck on his stick .
9 Victor Soderstrom D Brynas IF Gavle (SHL) : A smart two – way defenseman with good size , skating ability ,and hockey IQ , Soderstrom is very reliable in all situations . He’ s not afraid to take charge when necessary but doesn’ t take unnecessary risks . 10 Thomas Harley D Mississauga Steelheads : An outstanding offensive defenseman with great vision skating ability Harley QB ‘ s Mississauga Power play running or setting up plays from the blue line .
