On Sunday, March 10th at 9PM ET, A&E will premiere a new one-hour documentary on the life and career of WWE legend “Macho Man” Randy Savage. The film will take a look at Savage’s humble beginnings, his successful career in the WWE, and his tragic death.

The two-hour special will feature never-before-seen footage, interviews with WWE superstars and more as it chronicles the life and career of one of the most charismatic, controversial and colorful characters in WWE history.
Born Randy Poffo, Savage was a multi-sport athlete who signed with WWE in 1985 and quickly rose to prominence with his perfect combination of strength, agility and showmanship. He became one of the most popular Superstars of his generation and captured multiple championships, including the WWE Championship twice. His legendary matches against the likes of Hulk Hogan, Ricky Steamboat, Bret Hart and Ric Flair are considered among the greatest of all time.
Savage was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015.

He was, in every sense of the word, larger than life—a one-of-a-kind performer who left an indelible mark on WWE and sports entertainment as a whole.
Born Randy Poffo in 1952, Savage was raised in Columbus, Ohio, where he excelled in both football and baseball at Roosevelt High School. After sustaining a serious elbow injury that ended his Major League dreams, Savage turned his attention to the world of professional wrestling, making his in-ring debut in 1973.
He would compete for several regional promotions over the next decade before finally landing in WWE (then known as World Wrestling Federation) in 1985. It was there that Savage truly became a superstar, engaging in memorable rivalries with the likes of Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and Hulk Hogan while becoming one of the most popular Superstars of his generation. He would go on to win 29 different titles during his time with WWE—including two World Heavyweight Championships— cementing his legacy as one of the all-time greats.
Savage tragically passed away on May 20, 2011, at the age of 58. But his memory—and incredible body of work—lives on through those who loved him and watched him perform.
